Pretty much. For the record, I like that mages never need to go into active mode to cast spells and do work (wonder where that stems from), but they should get some club/staff weapon skills that require active mode. You know, if you wanna be lame and whack things with your stick.

Totally, but for mages it is like having a useless "stance". Honestly, why do we have active/passive anyway? Isn't this some old Tanaka doing? Why not just engage an enemy for a physical attack and automatically go into active mode. If the mage doesn't attack physically, then the mage stays in passive. How hard is this?!

passive/active is now auto-attack or healing across all classes. it should be this way. Active already does something, it attacks, and stops you from regenning mana. sometimes you need to hit stuff with your beating stick.

lol.. that is true. But for the most part, I just really hate how you don't really use your rod/staff/wand at all. It give no feeling. Plus look stupid in fight. You always just casting spell bare-hand, there is no point to even have a mage weapon. It doesn't make sense to have status enchant from weapon either.

There is one particular reason why! Because you're so goddamn badass you don't even need to worry about uncrossing your arms to win.
How about this?
BLM: Damaged based spells casted in active mode give you TP equal to an auto attack. So you get like roughly 400 TP for casting a spell.
Effect 1: 5 minute recast: Consume TP (1500 - 3000) to gain back MP in proportion to current TP.
Effect 2: 3 minute recast: Consume TP (1500 - 3000) to increase Attack Magic Potency and Attack Magic Accuracy based off of current TP. (Something like 1% increase every 150 tp, so caps at a 20% increase)
WHM: Healing based spells casted while in active mode give TP in proportion to an auto attack.
Effect 1: 5 minute recast: Consume TP (1000- 3000) to instantly heal a party member equal to half of your current TP.
Effect 2: 3 minute recast: Consume TP (1000 - 3000) to add a Stoneskin effect to the next healing spell you cast. Stoneskin strength varies with TP. (150 tp = 1% of total cure, 3000 TP = 20% of total cure)
I know there are ways around being in auto attack to gain tp, like invigorate and such. That's why invigorate should be made available to Disciples of War only!
Edit: The invigorate thing is a joke. Mages should be able to use it, since it'll only speed up TP gain. And considering the recast times, having fast ways to gain tp wouldn't be broken at all.

I support this.
To be honest, I haven't enjoyed conjurer as much since before that change was implemented, and a bit less than that since the newest changes (note that I say "as much", not "at all"). I really miss radiance, and being in stance. I tried to use active mode anyway when the change first hit, but you kinda have to use the passive if you want to keep your mp up.
For the record, I didn't want the "casting in passive mode," but I guess I was outvoted.![]()

Could just let us take out our staves/wands whenever we cast, no matter if we are in passive or active, putting it away right after if we are in the former.
