Would need to be anime for a chance at being okay.
Or better yet, y'know, scrap the idea because it's just a bad one o_o

Also I'd personally stay away from Kotaku if I were you. I prefer to get my news from sources that don't hate gamers.
It's been posted on numerous sites fyi.

The fact that they advertise the live-action debut of Cid as one of the main points is really weird, but if he's the main character and it focuses on his time at the academy up to his eventual defection, I think it'd at least be doable with live-action. Chocobos, beastmen, and any moving magitek would need to be CG, but you don't risk the uncanny valley with those and they could probably reuse the models made for the 1.0 and 2.0 cinematics. Everything else would be super easy practical effects, which would make it boil down to set design/costume design/acting/writing.
This is my last post before a pause from lodestone forums of 1 year as for my last request:
For FFXIV Live Action tv series make ❤Bruce Willis❤ Cid thank you! <>

Honestly, I remembered enjoying Super Mario, Mortal Kombat (both movies and the TV series), and Street Fighter. Just a fun part of my childhood.
WHY FINAL FANTASY XIV DESERVES A LIVE-ACTION TV SERIES
https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/06...es-a-tv-series
When was the last time a video game live action turned out well?
Actually mine example is the norm... what they did to sonic is what companies do ALL the time.. that's why noone has any hope it'll be good off the bat. Pikachu is the one that broke the rule.... And it doesn't look like XIV will do that. It looks like more of the same.. which is bad. :CAh, right. All four Avengers movies are so visually terrible that they are four of the top ten grossing movies of all time. Come on, man. If you don't think Marvel Studios CGI looks good, there will be no pleasing you.
This reasoning is so problematic. Exceptions do not make the rule. Following your logic, the existence of one bad live action movie means the entire industry should be scrapped. Actually, I can extend this reasoning to this game: FF XIV 1.0 was so terrible, S-E should have just canned FF XIV and never made another online game ever again. Because XIV 1.0 was so terrible.
Yeah, that logic is real fun, isn't it?
Ooh, I forgot my favorite live action movie series based on video game: Resident Evil! (Though maybe that's because I don't really play the games, so I'm just enjoying the movies independently from the game franchise.)
