Sadly, don't get your hopes too high; on a not-so-recent server visiting-spree, Yoshi-P was asked this question-
    Q. Is healer gear always going to be a white fluttering coat?
    A. The style and line of healer gear won't change that dramatically. It's pretty difficult to differentiate.

I also like to see this coat over plate armor design.
The first looks a lot like the Heavy Allagan Fending set, the second is reminiscent of the GNB AF set.

Less robes would be good; And additionally, i'd love it if we got more symmetrical armour looks. I'm getting tired of the cloth hanging down from a hip on near everything, honestly.

I don't have anything against robes per se, but not a fan of the type of robes that cover everything save the head. I'd love something like this - at least for WHM:

It still looks like healer gear, keeping the priesty aesthetic, but is more battle ready and you can actually see the limbs. The AF2 is kiiinda close, but the skirt is obviously a skirt and looks horrible on male characters... and yes, I like the so called 'butt capes' lol

I'm kind of with OP on this. As a WHM main I really dislike most of it's job gear (only the Stormblood one was fine if you play a female character) and the new one looks almost like the others before. For Dungeon gear I think SE really got better with creating new sets. I loved the Bonewicca set for example. However lots of sets for different classes looks the same and I personally like to wear something that makes people recognize the class by the first look. If we go back the to bonewicca example the caster sets is really nice and unique while the tank and ranged DPS looks the same. Like why tho? So more unique and different sets fitting to the different jobs would be nice. Also please SE don't recycle the look of dungeon sets for crafting.

I posted in this topic way back when it was current and I'd still like more "all classes can use" chest piece options that aren't robes/long coats/tunics. I won't deny that SE did address the lack of such a bit in Stormbloob by giving us the lvl1/all class Anemos versions of several chest pieces (including my much loved Gyuki Leather Jacket), but we still keep getting a glut of pseudo-dresses every time new gear is added, especially for the casters. I don't feel like its too much ask that at least ONE of the tomestone sets and/or crafted sets for casters/healers was a non-robe/non-long coat model.

With that said I am very appreciative of the MSQ end quest scion glam we got:

I would love to get more like this without a cape or scarf.

The outfit designs, with some exceptions, are very gaudy and badly designed, with unnecessary attachments and belts everywhere.

They need to provide some more variety (not everything needs to be a robe or have a cape), or simply unlock glamors so we can use them cross-role and mix and match. Their justification for not doing this - job identity - is ridiculous at this point. There's been rumors that they can't do this due to bad code, but that's not an excuse. Only good things can come of it, as people would be playing and leveling more to obtain that glamor, which means more subscription time. I myself would tinker endlessly with various combinations, even if it meant leveling jobs I wouldn't have otherwise.

That said, there are occasional gear sets in certain dungeons, like the Skalla and Bonewicca sets, that look so much better than the regular stuff that I could swear they come from a different designer. But these are few and far in between. They need to have that person design more stuff.

I'm a sucker for gorgeous plate armor with a flowing cape. What i loved about EQ2. Meh ... wish I could wear that on my WHM.

Being able to glam as anything would be nice (but also bearing in mind the gender/class-locked equipment).

The lore states that glamour is Magick that makes other people including yourself perceive what you are wearing is what you are wearing. I don't understand why this Magick cannot be used to glam from other classes/jobs. I understand the limitations of gender/race however.
