
It is arbitrary. The reason I saw quoted elsewhere has literally nothing to do with fps; fps has entirely to do with your personal hardware. There is literally zero reason to limit fps; taking that option away from those of us who can use it is absurd.



Some games, including XIV, tie aspects to framerate. Physics are one, but another is movement, which can allow people to clip out of bounds. I'd rather the actual issues be fixed instead of putting a bandaid over them and punishing us in the process, but as much as I dislike them, FPS caps do sometimes serve a purpose.
