Housing demolition timer need to be changed! Sitting on your property needs to count.

I actually checked out this dude's stream. It's not bad, honestly (There's a bit too much fluff but I suspect that's because you have to wait for the pvp queue on PST hours). You know, although I am STILL on the side of, "You have a house...why don't you use it?" part of this argument, I can also see where the OP is coming from.

I'll be honest with you, those claiming it's "So easy to see the timers tab" actually have a reason to USE the timers... I have no reason to.. not crafters/gatherers/things that use leves of any sort, or anything else included in that tab. It's also buried pretty deep in the in game menus. The fact that it doesn't display housing time before you lose it ALWAYS is one of those things that is total bullshit, the more that I think about it. The housing system NEVER lets you know that you could get auto demo'd before it happens, unless someone tells you about it.

Never once during purchasing the house, did it have a pop up, WHEN I BUILT THE HOUSE that if I didn't visit it, I'd lose it after x amount of days. Combine this with the fact that it doesn't even show in the timers until it's well under way to being auto demo'd and you have a perfect storm. They do this shit with the tooltips as well, when you gain another ability that augments them, like Blood gain with the DRK enhanced blackblood traits, or SAM with the "Extra Kenki on positionals", you'd never know unless you went back and re read them.

The game IS cryptic when it comes to simple shit like this, so I honestly can see where OP is coming from.

They SHOULD have been accessing their own house for all the stuff they did, instead of going to the FC house for that stuff... but it's also kind of ridiculous that the game does NOT let you know this is a thing and really, you can lose your house, out side of an EMAIL, something outside of the game, and a timer that doesn't even appear until it's close to too late.

Yes, he should have used his house regularly or at least like once a week? But it still doesn't defeat his point that it's kind of B.S. the way the notification system works for this sort of thing. They have popups for nearly anything else in this game... ACHIEVEMENTS that no one cares about LOL, but that house you just dumped 40mil on, can be deleted if you decide to take a break from the game. This is the first major MMO I've ever really sunk meaningful resources and time into, so maybe it's just common knowledge that this can happen... but I can start to see where OP is coming from. The more I think about it, the less foolish his point becomes.

Nice stream, by the way. Not really into PVP but it shows that you put some work into it. Hopefully you can get another house someday.

The problem is that he's in such denial over the fact that he wasn't active on his house that it's clear he's going to lose that next house as well. And then he's whine about it some more because SE didn't rework the entire housing system just for him.

We can hope that this will teach a lesson, but we'll see. I'm not really sorry for him since I mean, he should have used his house, but I can understand what he's trying to argue, and honestly, I agree with it partially.

I mean, I don't visit my house but maybe once a week to reset the timer, it's a crappy lil' cottage that I'm going to transfer (Yes, I know that is abusing the system to skip the hidden timers) to a medium, or large when Ishgard housing is released. So I don't really have anything TO visit. Sometimes I'll just have my character lay down on the bed while I queue for something. Or just find someone else's house and sleep in their bed.

I do agree housing needs some serious fixing. I lucked into a medium house in Shirogane, had a small in Mist on the beach. So while I personally have had a decent experience in housing, I understand so many people don't. I'm also not on a hugely populated server. I really feel for those on the servers with huge populations.

This being said, I really think a mix of housing wards - especially for FCs - and instanced housing would be the best answer. Upgrade apartments so they are the same size as houses with a garden area - atrium room that lets you put outdoor things out perhaps - with the attendant pricing. Places that would be fantastic for instanced housing would be the reconstructed Doman Quarter, Idyllshire, Ala Mhigo, Ishgard, even the 3 city states. There are plenty of 'doors' into buildings in all of these areas that could be instanced housing. Let the towns themselves be the neighborhood. Like many people have stated, there is no real neighborhood feel to the housing wards. I rarely see anyone in mine. My house is unlocked, so people are free to visit but usually visitors are friends and FC mates.

Personally, if instanced housing ever would be implemented, I would do that instead of a house in a ward. The outdoor areas for a medium is super cramped as it is. I do hope I can get a medium if Ishgard gets housing, that is what I am hoping to move to, Ishgard is the home of my heart.

The only one whining is YOU! With every post you point fingers. Three of them point back to YOU! The only reason you keep posting is because you got your place from this system and do not want it improved. Even if it helps others in my rare case. The only way I could trigger the house demolitions will be taking break, and in game timer would not help at all.
If I am active in game I went into my house occasionally, I don’t own a house just built and forget

I wouldn't have my house today if not for the demolition timer. My house if the most important thing to me, the point that I subscribed an entire year because I don't want to give it up. I log out every game in my bedroom and craft most everything in my house. I even personally craft almost 90% of everything in my house, a project which took me a month to complete. If you have to "babysit" your house, it really sounds like you don't even want it. If the house is a burden, let your house be given to someone like me, who will enjoy it thoroughly.
