EPIC LULZ!!I almost died! XD Great job!
well besides that being completely stupid, do you know how much money FFXI has brought them over the years compared to ANY game they have made offline? seriously i wanna see this hilarious fact that FFXI makes them so little....really...go on.If you want to help Square Enix to save money/energy first of all stop posting on a community's forum you (obviously) don't belong to. This will reduce load on the servers hosting this forum and also help to conserve power
So true. FFXI fees are peanuts for SE compared with their offline game and publishing business.
They made potato dollars and peanut cents with FFXI.

Exactly. You don't get the point. It's exactly like Evenstar said, leaving XIV off now while XI goes back online is the worst thing they can do. It would simply mean FFXIV is out of their priority (because no income from it (yet)) and that they abandoned the remaining playerbase. Good luck to your company's next game after doing something like that, it would a deathblow.
Since the release of the Collectors Edition Square Enix did nothing but try to make this game work. Keeping the servers offline at this moment will totally destroy all the effort they put into this game since September last year. They will not only lose FFXIV players, but those same players will think twice before buying a Square Enix product in the future. I know I will ....
It is not about me being able to play the game or not ... It is about how a certain company acts towards his customers. Yes, I am not paying right now, but if they want to make FFXIV work they need me to pay in a few months when they re-release the game. So, as a possible future customer of FFXIV they have to keep me interested into this game. If they keep the servers offline it will only show that they do not care enough about FFXIV, so why would I stick around?
Square Enix is a company, not a charity. They are not brining the servers up because they love us so much (or because my mother can cook so well). It is a business decision, nothing else. They have to keep their current paying FFXI customers and their future FFXIV subscribers. Thats all, it is really no rocket science or something.
If you want to help SE, maybe you should stop posting. Talking about things that you obviously have no understanding of is more of a waste of bandwidth than anything else. Also FFXI is still profitable and has been for a long time.

I am going to look for the right documents in a bit, but I can promise you that FFXI is less than 10% of their total profit ...
You know they made more than 200 million USD PROFIT on FFXIII only? Yes, FFXII, the game that was being whined about everywhere ... So, please calculate for me how many players need to be playing FFXI for how long to make the same amount of PROFIT (so after all costs for server maintenance, developing and so on ...)
Square Enix was around before FFXI ... (well not as Square Enix, but still). It is not like FFXI is their only game that made them profit man ... Final Fantasy series in general, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, all the games they got from working with Eidos ... Stop acting like Square Enix is only around because of FFXI and FFXIV.
I actually do...It's just that you guys act like SE's main earnings are from FFXI (and some even seem to think its their only game) and was referred to Lindariel's post (which you probably didn't read). Calling it "peanuts" was obviously exaggerated. I also know about XI being still profitable, i'm playing it and pay 2 accounts for years.
i have posted this suggestion on another similar thread..
Zanfire if you care so much, please do petition to shutdown all pachinko, games centre, and shops at akibahara. i mean anime in time of crisis really?
/Agreed If they kept the servers down for no reason there would be absolutly no point to look forward to getting them back up because at that point it probably wouldn't happen. On a more serious note, if SE were to keep the servers off when they didn't need to I would walk away from this game and would not look back. That would just show that SE does not care about the players, and I'm sure they do. You know it's time to give up on an MMO when the company stops caring about the players.
Good job getting the servers back on within a reasonable timescale SE. 'tis much appreciated.
