Nah, I like undercutting for one reason. It brings the cost of those items that have no business being 1000 times overpriced. There's reasonable and then there's where people go stupid. Like a level 10 ring should NOT be 45 mil. :/

you absolutely do not need undercutting at all to avoid this. you have no idea how the market works if you think undercutting is what keeps items from being stupidly overpriced. osrs doesn't have this problem in the slightest. in fact you'll never even see an item that low be priced that high. not being able to see everyone's listings and being shown an average market value doesn't prevent item prices from changing.

Look at the last item in most things, tell me when you come accross that 99mil item on the MB. I'll wait. Even still you missed the point. The point is the MB being player controlled is the best form for it. If I want to I can go and price the shiver emote at what I think is a reasonable price and not the 10 plus million it is at now. That was my point. Either or the MB is fine as it is. Keep it player controlled. no need for it to be changed cause a few people can be morons or greedy mc ducks.
can someone explain to me wtf this guy is saying to me? i don't think he understands my thread or what i'm proposing at all.Look at the last item in most things, tell me when you come accross that 99mil item on the MB. In Runescape, you can do this too. Its just easier to "set it" and "forget it" automatically, on average price. It you really want to sell level 70 gear for 10 gil or level 10 gear for several million, you still can. There difference here is that you do not see the listings. You see the average. This way you don't feel pressured to make it cheaper. Even in Runescape people can sell cheaper to sell faster, though. To me it feels like prices fluctuate much less there. When prices go down/up, they go very slowly compared to FFXIV. The market there is by far my favorite.Look at the last item in most things, tell me when you come accross that 99mil item on the MB. Edit: Another thing that I should mention about the GTS/GE is that when people DO undercut. Nobody sees it except the seller. Sure you can put your "buy" option for a lower than average price and maybe get stuff that has been undercut, but so few people do so that it really doesnt affect the average much.
When I sell things on the MB in XIV, (Things like ingots. ores, it doesnt even matter what really) I always get undercut by stupid amounts. I could sell materia VI for 1-10k and the next day its still there because somebody is selling hundreds at 700. Undercutting generally hurts multiple people. Because now we either sell so cheap that it isnt worth it anymore, or we give up and look for another market, thats probably going to be crashed like this by the overly wealthy trolls who dont want anyone else to have it. I have literally heard a few players with max gil laugh and say that they ruin markets just to lock others out. "What else are they going to do with max gil and all of this bordem." How is a new crafter supposed to combat people like this? In the GTS/GE you dont have to.

This. You'll want to be paid for your efforts, plus the cost of crystals, the service and bonus for HQ. You went through the labor of leveling the job too. Reasonably, you should expect profit. But uh, I know for a fact a lv20 CRP recipe table should not be on the MB for 50k nor a glam item with easy to get materials be in the 100k+ zone.
People be greedy.
