Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

You know, we really should stop using that comparison because at the end of the day, it's the same exact bs. How is an Elezen/Au Ra with ears, a Highlander with ears, or a Miqo with ears any different? either way it just draws back to race that already exists with different ears. Let's just...let the dev team solve it out and show our preferences without attacking those with a different opinion, please.


Also slightly off-topic, why are Highlanders always lumped in with Roes? the body type difference is huge, I'd lump them with Au Ra tbh. Lizard boys only look slim because they're tall af.

By some part of community judgement, everything what does not look like 35+ y.o. man that lives in gym = child by default. As if young looking adults do not exist (Spoiler: they definitely do).

It's lovely art, but not what I'd go for. I'd want the arms to be a lot more muscular. The face looks rather young - too young for me - but I can certainly see it passing off as an adult. Some male miqote have this type of face. As does 'adult link' to some extent. As someone who's attracted to males, this wouldn't be my cup of tea, especially if it was paired with small stature - this is what I would call a 'baby face'. Some people like that, of course! All the power to them. I wouldn't want the whole gender to look like this, but to have an option where they do by the character creator - muscles on minimum, height lowest and with the 'young face' that all races seem to have - at least from what I've seen. I can see it.

Aye totally understandable. I don't think I would though - I hope I don't offend as honestly there's no other way I can phrase it. As I said, it's lovely art - but the imagery it portrays honestly reminds me of Yaoi. Now there's nothing wrong with that. But I suppose you can imagine the troupe I'm thinking of, where the character who looks like that usually ends up as a sub for a large olderr more masculine male.... Matsumi's art didn't make me think this.

The fact I have to describe this is eugh... I'm pretty sure knows what I'm referring to anyway. Again, this is not an insult - this is simply what that imagery brings to my mind as there's little media I can bring forward that hits it on the nail. Note, again this is imagery brought forward with the attributes of the art - I'm not saying you went and drew yaoi.

I guess this is where we come full circle where I suppose where the whole 'Yoshida is a homophobe' - when they look like that, slim, extremely young looking - yet an adult. It portrays certain imagery that a lot of folk link into that type of media. Especially in Japan - more so if the rest of the characters, including the females, aren't also in a similar style.

So, if they did look like that and were put into the game next to what people consider to be more 'muscular' and 'older' - males, well - I don't have to go on. I would find them strange next to the females anywho.

I guess I was falsely under the impression I could post my own artwork as a show of support without people trying to shut it down. I don't think any other artists here had their artwork being debated on like this. Usually, people thank them for their support, maybe even compliment them on the art, and then move on without trying to invalidate their vision of male viera. Not that I'm saying you're the one doing that.

I guess you can just chalk it up to my art style? I like the body type of the viera minafumi drew, and I like Yoshi P's description of them. I also like the concept art so... I just drew my vision of male viera to show my support.

Oh no, I'm certainly not trying to shut you down! Haha, it's just what popped into my head when I was thinking about the imagery. Usually, I don't comment so much on peoples art as folks tend to get upset about it. But you've shown to be able to take criticism well, so I thought I'd speak up!

Again, it's less the art and more the imagery the art brings forward as a desire for what is wanted. The concept of it reminded me of that.

Yoshi-P has already stated that viera men will not be child-like. It's as if certain posters are trying to see how close they can get to that without crossing the line. There's too much of a contrast between the women and the men. The art itself is nicely drawn, so there's clearly talent behind it. I just strongly disagree with the proposed direction.

I just posted my vision of male viera to show my support. I personally like my design and would fantasia if they looked like that. I don't think it's child-like at all. It's just my style. and how is a 6-pack child-like, anyway? loool granted, only one of them is toned, but I would personally go for a less toned look.

Just because this character isn't big, bulky, buff, or "classically handsome" doesn't mean it's child-like. Not all men are those things. There are some thin men out there, too. I don't consider myself child like and I'm pretty thin.
