Racial Imbalance Within Eorzea

Specifically when it comes to the story.

So let's see we have....1 Roe man, Gosetsu who had a role but now is "on a pilgrimage" which is essentially the nice way of saying "get lost noone likes you" Then we have Momma Limsa Roe lady thats 1 Fem Roe whom again had all this potential but was relegated to the sidelines just to look cute.

And pretty much everyone else is a human or a cat or a potate or a not elf cause apparently some humans just have ears so pointy they can be certified life sized hole punchers.

And of course we got Shadowbringers coming up which had 1 plot important Hrothgar in the trailer and barely any Viera.

Now I could be my usual self and say "Gahh where my Roe MEN I need my MEAT SQUARE ENIX" and while I still hold true to that, seriously we need more Male Roes in everything, I actually took a hard look and honestly, other races arent really paid that much attention to.

Usually its humans, lalas, miqs, and maybe an elf dude but thats about it. Rarely do we see any elf ladies or Au Ra or heck we dont even see Fem Roes all that much.

I mean theres Biggs from the Cid squad and while hes someone I wanna love and protect with my life he doesn't really add anything to the overall general plot as hes to busy prepping for Cid and Neros wedding in the Deltascape.

All joking aside, I'm honestly tired of seeing the basic races take over the plot. I mean for real their bringing the Stormblood girl back because heaven forbid a viera or a Hrothgar actually leas the plot for once.

You know what's sad, for that reason I sometimes even forget Male Miqs even exist. I never see them most of the time it's the fem miqs.

There are plenty of races present in the story. If you're going to count certain sets of unimportant characters, you've got to count them all. Any time we're dealing with Limsa, we're dealing largely with Roes and Hyurs. Any time we're dealing with Gridania, Elezen and Mi'qote, and a few Hyurs. Any time we're dealing with Ul'dah, it's largely Lalas and Hyurs, with a few Miq'ote due to the U tribe living in the Sagoli Desert.

Ishgard is pretty much entirely Elezen. The Azim Steppes in SB are entirely Au'ra due to that being where the tribes live. Kugane and Yanxia, obviously (including Gosetsu btw) are mostly Hyurs with a mixture of all races in the case of the Confederacy. Au'ra also show up prominently in the Doman areas overall because -- well, they live there. Gyr Arbania is a good mix of Hyurs, Miq'ote and Roes, as well.

It's just that the Scions themselves have very few prominent Roes. We have Hoary Boulder for the most part, and his younger brother. Then you have the various Job and Class guildmasters who end up roped into things, too.

You know Wedge (or Biggs? I forget who is who) is a roe bro right? He's pretty relevant in the MSQ in Heavensward as well as Alexander's story.

Hmmm... actually, the most rare are Moon Keepers Males (saw them like... 3 times in side quests? Scholar storyline had tree randoms we killed, Black Mage story line had one and also Moon Miqo'te from Beast Tribe closing quests in every expansion) and Duskwight Elezens (I remember only one in 1-30 Lancer story). Though, these guys are so rare in story for a reason - they are rare by lore in general.

Outside of this, we actually see plenty amount of NPC from every race in MSQ and side quests in different areas (mostly those that appeal to them lorewise, which is logical). /thinks

Gotetsu may no longer be in the picture in the current main storyline but his story and bonding with Yotsuyu is something I really enjoyed in stormblood even though the ending was sad. I do hope he would make some appearance in Shadowbringers.

Which is why certain race/gender combo's are less frequently seen than others from NPC's?

And in regards to Hoary and his lil bro, I mean yea there THERE but they dont really do much when compared to the humans.

Theres plenty of unimportant NPCs just kinda bumbling around but even then they just don't get the screentime that they deserve.
