Feeling punished for having alts...

I always have alts in other mmo's I play - this is the one game I focus on one character - the reason being, that is how the game is designed, to do everything on one character. I have fantasias for those times I want to play as a different race. I have a few alts rolled but I don't actively play them. My ultimate goal is to max everything on my main - if I do that then at some point I may play around on an alt, and I think I will really enjoy going back through the lower level storyline if that happens .

The game design doesn't really give an advantage for rolling alts. I'm not yet maxed out on retainers but I have plenty of storage.

Biggest issue is the single character mogstation only outfits. They make 24$ mount account wide, but 18$ outfit for a single character.
Even if the price was upped a little would still be better then having to pay 18$ per character you want the outfit on.

I would be satisfied with just having the option to move things between my characters. I do agree with the other requests though OP.

No easy way to skip the main story to reach endgame.
No shared bank.
No shared achievements.
No shared seasonal and event items.
No shared housing.

Store items are for one character only

And cant even send gil or materials between characters on the same server without friends or a contrived transfer on the market board.

Basic functionalities in other MMO's completely absent from this one... And we are hitting the 3rd expansion now.

Sorry i guess for wanting to play different looking characters without leaving my main behind or having to do most events multiple times, or to not having to think about inventory always filling up because i decided to play more than one job...

Soo....pretty much how most MMOs operate? Or used to atleast. I cant speak for all MMOs, but many would not share bank, would not share achievements, would not share seasonal and event items, wouldnt share 'housing', and didnt give you an easy way to end game. Each character was usually treated as a new beginning. Maybe things lately have changed, but yeah, this isnt new.

Housing really should be made account wide... Or at least be able to have your own characters as Tenants.

I myself enjoy to create multiple characters in every MMO and rarely stick to one character for a longer period of time because I love different character designs and also because of RP reasons. FFXIV is in this case no exception. It bothers me a lot that I loose all event stuff when I start over on a new alt or main. But oh well. A new slate is a new slate and I arranged myself with it. I only view the character bound inventory as a significant problem because I would love to share my Gil and stuff between my old and new characters. Housing is also something which should be account wide and not bound to a single character. Sadly I do not think that SE will change anything regarding those things in the near future.

I wouldn't want one character's story progress or achievements affecting my other characters. It would negate their own activities too much. Those sort of things should be separate for each character.

But either some sort of shared bank or at least the ability to mail items between our alts would be a big help. (I use the FC chest for that, but it isn't a possibility for everyone.) And given the game's housing shortage, and the fact that people are no longer allowed to buy houses for each character, our characters should be able to share the one and only house we're allowed to have.

And I think it would be better for all gear and mounts sold through the MogStation to at least have an account-wide option (though it would be reasonable to charge more for getting it account wide than getting it for a single character).

When I was still playing GW2 quite a bit, it felt slightly painful swapping back and forth between GW2 & XIV. GW2 has so many amazing QOL features in place for sharing access between your various characters. I do understand that XIV lets you have one char (which I love), while GW2 is one class per char - but even so - plenty of people DO use alts in this game for various reasons.

But yeah, GW2 lets you share just about everything (glamours, currency, storage, craftings mats, etc). Gear itself is bound, but I think that's just about the only thing (it's been awhile for me, if I'm missing something obvious, holler!).

I play another game that also lets you lets you do everything on one character (like XIV), but they also allow your alts to share land/housing - even alts that are part of the rival faction.

It's really easy to get spoiled by features like that. :X

Actually I'd argue they should take this a step further and even allow in-game friends to share houses like this too, similar to a FC house but on a smaller scale.

The weird part is that this is already allowed by making them tenants. We can share our house with other players, but can't share it with our own alts.

A lot of games actually have account-shareable bank (or, like, a special shareable tab in the inventory), but about other points you are right.
