What am I telling others not to do that I'm doing? I think it's more to it because it makes no sense for SE to only allow you to change unique hair styles by buying a $10 potion for this one race. They realize that people earn hair styles as rewards through out the game, pay real money for them on the station and even give them out as real life contest rewards so they know the importance of it. Plus theres the fact that the last time a new race came out it had access to all the free hairs in the benchmark where as neither of these 2 have access to non-race hair.
So yeah, I still think there's more to this. Don't personally expect both these races to only have the hair they have now. Even if they don't share the common hair I feel they should have access to the unlockable ones. But that's the thing, I THINK there is ... not gonna say you should think there is or that I KNOW there is. It's a personal thought on the matter than I wouldn't force any debate to work on the bases of being correct.
And if this is it then so be it, not gonna act like it's a personal offence on me.
Anyway, as for the rest ...
-What Yoshi said was in regards to the body and face shapes. We get new Hair styles often because hair is just that ... hair. They're not gonna change the way gear looks to fit a hair style, it's something more like an add on to your model like gear. So yeah, seems you don't understand that line ...
-They can change hair styles. Albeit a limited and concerning way. Every head has 2 they can have and face features that turn those 2 into 4 by adding to the head hair. Even if you have a problem counting that their "hair option" can be counted as the fur options which again gives them a bold new choice in CC that no one else has seeing as no other race can control or change their body hair or give themselves body markings. So yeah, they had 20 tabs just like humans males ... you wanna die on the hill of "these giant cat men with animal mouths can't wear lipstick"?
-Please, don't make things up. Yoshi said that they have Lion (Face 1), Jaguar (face 3) and wolf head. Thing is wolf prob refers to face 2 seeing how you can easily make him look like a werewolf. It's a pretty flexible "attractive beast" face really. And on top of that we have Ronso head. He broke no promise.
-No one said Viera was "an afterthought", but from everything we know the Hrothgar is what they wanted to do and Hrothgar females got booted for Viera.
You can see what you want, it's clear to me from what we've seen so far that the Hrothgar got far more time and effort than the likes of Viera. I've said it before, maybe not here ... but people let "OoohHhh, pretty!" cloud their vision. Emote wise many of their's are 2 or more times longer than the Viera and everyone of them is far more lively and expressive (and yes, you can be reserved and regal without having short and small animations. They went too far into reserved for my liking). Body wise I can see the effort put into shaping the gear to work with their posture and shape were as Viera's bolted on ears don't animate at all and clip with large weapons held on the back (Very jarring to me). Also there's the fact that Yoshi talked about their "high heel" being a problem only to give them reg feet when not wearing race gear (I personally have no problem with glaming the boots onto everything but that IS a thing he pointed out like "Hey, we gotta remodel the shoes for them if we make them!" and I understand why he said screw it but yeah)
Hell, as a femroe I feel our long hair was handled far better because of the fact that it doesn't clip right through our shoulder with simple head moves like I've seen with the Viera. All in all the Viera feel like a black coded, better proportioned Elezen with slapped on frozen bunny ears where as the Hrothgar feel like something new and needed. I'm happy we got them if only for the fact that we can now have black looking women but that's it really.
To each their own though. If there's anything I know it's that this convo will go no where. If you've decided you like what Viera has shown more than Hrothgar then no amount of pointing out the time and effort required to make their emotes (and bring human emotion to the faces of legit non-human animal heads) and gear is gonna do anything. Have fun, maybe you'll get your 3rd tall skinny reserved elezen like guy (But with Bunny ears ...!) so that we can have the females to the Hrothgar ... cause I desperately want to see what they do with them after the great job they did bringing the males to life.
Less options is more so a loaded phrase to me in regards to the topic. Like, they can change just as many things as others given they have the same number of tab options. That's the CC to me. The number of things in a certain selection though can be added or debated on their worth. I mean, hell ... I could argue that many races have redundant things that are skillfully avoided here.
Also comes from not looking at how things are appealed to this race. Their head hair IS fur That's why the France leak comments on their "mane". So they don't get highlights, they get the choice of coloring their fur patterns and picking said patterns though. They cleverly use the Face features tab to add meaning features like hair and horns instead of just covering them with scars and lil bandages or giving them slightly thicker eyebrows or what have you. To me a CC isn't just about quantity, it's about quality. Having 4 faces means nothing to me if only 1 or 2 at most look usable to players (which I KNOW to be the case with Femroe and a few others) or if you can't really see much of a difference in some of the featured choices.

So, I hope you get female lionesses, and yes, male hrotgar's emotes are good, but their customization certainly isn't. Also, female viera's emote are adequate and they did a good job on them imo. That being said, you shouldn't treat male viera badly because you want lionesses, and they're not just elezen with bunny ears. Take a female elezen with bunny ears and compare it to female viera
Did anyone actually see a male Hrothgar during the newest trailer?
I noticed that and was happy Viera were getting so much attention in "story" and sad that Hroths were kinda getting sidelined. I mean, I'm sure the GNB trainer will be a Hroth because they INVENTED the job, but so far they've mostly been shown as generic PC stand-ins (for PLD and MNK, I'd have liked if the most recent CGs had a Hrothgar GNB but they made him a MNK...which is still fine because it's one of 2-3 AF sets which shows off the fur patterns).
Totally out of the left field prediction-I have no basis for this: If the final zone is back in the Source, I'd expect it to be in Garlemald's doorstep, which from the Eorzean side is the homeland of the Hrothgar. This could allow us to "see" the Helion queen as we've been avoiding Ilsabard for too long. Before the whole shard-hopping was revealed, I was expecting 5.0 to take place in the Garlean Empire, so we still have that area to see in 6.0 (that is, 5.3+, when the new expansion is being set up, would deal with what's been happening in the Empire while we were Dancing around the First).
Well, to be completely fair, at least we somehow know Viera are around, because Fran and her rebel group that may or may not have more of them, but as far as our characters and the current MSQ are concerned, Hroths "don't exist". That said, I agree - the GNB trainer should be a Hrothgar, but it wouldn't surprise me it's any other race who learned GNB from one instead.
