Dear SquareEnix, please let me have eye brows on my character.

I agree. It's silly. Give the OPTION for no eyebrows sure, but don't apply it to every male highlander. Their lore explanation says it's because they do it to to be more imposing. link below. But a few issues with this.

A. It says their men AND women fight but strangely, it's only the males who have the no eyebrow thing going on. If this is a highlander thing, give both genders the option to have or not have eyebrows.

B. It lists other things they do to look more imposing like pulling teeth or scarring themselves. So shaving eyebrows isn't even the only thing they do.

C. It just feels like a weird tradition to force onto EVERY male highlander character. Especially with the WOL having unspecified origins for players to imagine.

I feel like the "bulky character with no eyebrows" might be an anime thing? Definitely Fullmetal Alchemist has a few characters like that as well.

But if that's why they went that direction for FFXIV, then Roegadyns would have no eyebrows too. But Roes definitely do have them.

That doesn't actually make highlanders with eyebrows lore breaking. It would only be a problem if 100% of highlanders took part in the custom, but that's not necessarily how culture works. It's not so much that people don't care about the lore (although I admit to not knowing the reason for shaved brows before this thread), they just might not like how it's "enforced" in the game. Extra jarring when a NPC gets to break the rules too.

Highlanders would probably be more popular if their faces weren\\'t so weird. Little beady eyes and no eyebrows.

Literally the only reason I don't play Highlander. I like the height and build, but the no eyebrow thing ruins the face. I had to settle for a short Au'ra, who's a little more slender than I'd like, but at least had a decent face.
