Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Last time they half assed something to cater what people wanted, we got BLU. I can't speak for anyone other than myself but I'd rather wait and see what happens than be given a literal scaleless Au Ra/Elezen.

Also, they didn't intentionally think people wanted 2 genderlocked races, sorry but now you're just speaking out of your butt. They did the genderlock because it was the lesser of two evils so to speak.

I think that the body should obviously be altered, I think I worded wrong. I want it to be based on male au ra, not be male au ra. If I wanted that I could mod it.
Then,I think that they though that genderlocked races were better than 1 race, which we have seent that isn't the same the majority of the vocal community (at least the ones I have seen, I do not pretedn to speak in behafl in the community) would have prefered.

I haven't convinced myself about anything. I simply said I like male au ra's body type for male viera, and scaleless it could be a decent adition in case the devs want to do it but can't find another way to do it.

They took 1.5 years to do this models, and they'll most likely reuse most of the things from the current genders.

Then ,I DO care about female hrotgar, and i want tehm to be huge like the males. It is unlikely, but like I said, I'd like them to be based on male hrotgar.

There is a world of difference between being "huge, like the males" and literally putting a female face on a males bod (which is reusing models/ resources).
No other female body model IN THIS GAME is the same as the male's.

Also, It's quite possible that they simply do something that you think its half assed to catter to what the community has been asking for and saving resources. They made the worst customization in the game with hairstyles because they though players wanted 2 genderlocked races and they couldn't manage it otherwise

I have no idea what "worst customization in this game" means. In the Benchmark they currently have limited hair selections for the new races which is a problem and we don't know how it will translate to ShB release ... but neither of them have "worst customization" than other races.

This kinda makes me wonder how's it going in the parallel universe where Hrothgar are the male Viera, just to see if the impact is as big as having no male at all (for now).
I mean, if we're being honest, if they did that they would've given us both the fanservicy bunny warriors and a beastly race all at once and be done with it, even if they fell for that trope of old of males being any kind of monster but females have to be sexy not-humans.

I think it would be a smaller backlash: mostly some huffing and eye rolling, some users tagging Matsuno on Twitter asking if that was his view on m Viera, Matsuno would probably said some non-commital "It's the XIV team's vision of them." I would have grumbled, because that trope drives me up the wall but there likely wouldn't have been as much complaining as there was. It would, however, have definitely closed the door on a female bestial race, given that there would be no excuse to release the counterparts later (and yes, this means I AM admitting Hroth bring more to the game than Viera, being more different to the other races).

Also, god damn, we must be in the wrong timeline since I'm agreeing with reivaxe now: the body and gear modelling WILL take a long time, even if the assets are "recycled". Even if there are bases they can use (say, female Ronso from the X/X-2 remasters, and modify elezen bodies), it WILL take a long time, because that's how model development works, and that's not even getting INTO gear resizing and testing. I want to play a male Viera and have a female Hrothgar alt, so I do not want them rushed, I want them to make a good product.

With this post and the one after, you show your true colors. Yes, I ask that you be patient for something that isn't promised to us because patience is a virtue not many have anymore. You encompass many in your blanket statement which is never good. If 6.0 comes around and you throw a big fit again over something that they specially said wasn't guaranteed, then you'll just paint this community in a horrible light. If that's how you want to do this, you go right ahead. It'll alienate people from your cause.

As for what I wanted, I had no real desire for new races, and my expectations were not really set on anything. Hrothgar was a pleasant surprise to me, and something I had wanted from early on in the game because it adds a beastly race that this mmo lacks. However what I wanted doesn't cloud my support for male viera. Although with each piece of lashing out you do, I grow less sympathetic. You can't accept opposing opinions. Also, yes, I'd like them to spend time on the missing models as well as the current ones. They won't be reusing assets. I don't know where you get that from but it's misguided.

What exactly is wrong with his posts? He tries to stay positive that they will come with 6.0 (which is 2 years from now) and if not then he might take down his sub. Whats wrong with that? I honestly dont really get why some people here are shooting him down that much. (Some even come just in here to insult him in some ways) In the end its quite fine to have the opinion that they may come with 6.0. It is clear that it will only get harder to implement them the more expansion we have and depending on how many expansions are planned, anything after 6.0 might simply be too late.

Now that I'm not busy, I want to comment directly about these parts. They had specifically said in the past that if they did female viera, they'd do a different male race. This was said way back. You set an expectation for yourself and when you ignored reason, you got upset at the devs. This was said AFTER the no gender lock comment. Just because you want and hope for something does not guarantee it will happen. This is important to understand. I am hopeful male viera will happen, but I'm setting realistic expectations.

The last part is just a childish ultimatum. Please don't try to drag everyone in this thread down with you.

Yoshida a long time ago has stated that he find male Viera a bit weird but that never meant that we would always just get the female version. Then at the fanfest where they revealed Hrothgar they stated lore as a reason first, later in interviews on the fanfest they suddenly said that it was not lore. Then they stated that they would do Hrothgar and because they were doing the raids they decided to include female Vieras instead of female Hrothgars. At the same time the Vieras look like they have much more behind them and Hrothgar was barely done at their time of reveal. For me that are very different views on it and seemingly even SE cant stick to one. So could you link please were he stated that? That it will never be a male Viera? And if that is the case why even say that maybe they will both come? Why even let male Vieras exist in lore?

I think some of the problem (and my personal beef with them) is that they're making the lack of male Viera out to be some huge catastrophic event that has hit the community. In reality, some people simply don't give a hoot one way or the other. There's a lot of support for them otherwise. But it's not something that has caused a rift in the community and made people turn on each other at the very mention of male Viera. I have no problem with them being positive, I think that's great...but they are moonlighting as a doomsayer.

Its all good and great, but reading the posts just makes me facepalm. Sorry, but if this is how people behave and demand something this crazy, then sorry. My support ends here and I do not have a problem to be against it. If SE implements them now, those very same people will make same entitled demands on the forums. This will just keep going til they get what they want. And I for myself, do not support such behavior.

Got yer point pal, but not only in this thread people do lots of demands (job creation, change this, change that...) and what for one is totally insane or meaningless, for others matters. Some ideas are implemented for those demands.
The funny thing about Foruns, is that people come with hammers thinking that theirs is the last word.
For me, what derailed was sexualizing the idea of male Viera (feminine, macho man...) when we give sexual or certain behavior, we are putting some dots that are exclusively personal. Which, btw, even if I disliked was interesting arguments from others.

Who speak about "now" though? There are people who are unrealistic in time question, but not because they are crazy, they just do not know what amount of time even simple drafts can take. Some people do not even know that we have more than 8.000 armor items (and I didn't count weapons here). But when you see people like this - it's up to you to open their eyes with links to database (to show how much clothes we have) and explaining that "big company" <> "make things in one day". If they do not understand after explaining - that's another moment, just ignore them then.

When people say about 6.0 - there actually is a sense in it. Because in 6.0 we already will have more than 10.000 armor items. It will become 12.000 in 7.0 and 14.000 in 8.0, and more, and more, and more. So if they are going to implement them, it's better to do it sooner than later, but it's not up to us to decide anyway. Same goes to graphic adjustments btw - longer they wait, harder it will be to do. But about this Yoshi already said that it's not on the table at least until PS5 time, so welp.

You must have missed the parts of the conversation where he began to ridicule me for my views. It goes over several pages and I don't have time to link them for you because I'm at work. Basically, he attacks me for stating my opinion.

The comment about viera female getting a different male counterpart was mentioned in a previous interview I believe, but that was long before this most recent statement that "if they can make it happen they'll consider it." I've seen the quote posted before but again, at work, so no time to look for it right now.
