Heavensward wasn't all bad. I quite liked some of it. All of it though? Most of it even? Lord no. I actually enjoyed Stormblood a lot more overall even if Eureka tainted my view of it a bit. Different people have different tastes. I won't consider someone a troll if they liked Heavensward more. I just might not share their opinion.

You've got a fundamental misunderstanding of what a weeaboos is. They're not just fans of anime. Tons of people are anime fans without being weeaboos. Weeaboos fetishize the narrow cross-section of Japanese culture that they believe to be the entirety of Japanese culture. They unironically say words like Nani and discuss their waifus in public. They own anime body pillows that are so crusty they could stand up on their own in gale force winds.
It's not whether or not HW was a jrpg, it's the western fantasy setting vs the weeaboo paradise of othard.

I liked Heavensward more than Stormblood. And only because Heavensward seemed to have a story that flowed more unitedly. Stormblood's story would have been great... if they expanded on Doma and Ala Migo in greater moves.
Having taken an alt through it, I felt that Ala Migo was too fast, and Doma felt rushed. I did like a few places through out. But I feel its full potential wasn't realized at all.
That said. I was miffed at the way the Sultana issue was done. (That could have been a full arc or three!) The Warriors of Darkness... tied up too quickly.
While you're technically correct, individual people rarely qualify for one label exclusively. Some of those of people probably like tons of elements from other cultures as well. In such cases, having those elements in a Japanese RPG might actually be a plus.
I grew up playing the Heretic and Hexen games on a Windows 98 computer. The series was dedicated to dark humor, dark fantasy, gloomy castles, dank swamps, and sinister 'churches'. Even though the games have absolutely nothing in common with the Final Fantasy series, I couldn't help but get those vibes from The Vault and Ishgard. Immediate like for me, lol.
