    So I've played about a bazillion MMOs over the years (been playing MMOs for over 20 years) and I generally gravitate towards dps and healer roles. I actually really love playing support roles... so few games let me just be a support, but anyway.

    FFXIV is one of like... 2 games... where a healer is expected to deal damage at all. And frankly, the other one I'm coming up with is the Rift Chloromancer and only because dealing damage is how they heal in the first place.

    Having to dps as a healer in FFXIV still grates on me even after all this time. I'd be quite happy to see the incoming damage go up so that healers have to spend their time healing.

    I would 100% be down with my healing job becoming an actual healing job. I picked up healer because I wanted to play as a healer. But most fights in this game are scripted, which means only unavoidable mechanics should ever require healing.

    The problem isn't the healing roles. The problem is how the enemies in the game are structured.

    In a sense they had also capped MP to emphasis this. If you saw videos of the new level 73 dungeon, it already has a huge emphasis on raid wide aoe damage that, not 100%, can always be avoided. I do see them increasing the damage output for bosses and mobs. And becuase of the capped MP, healers won't be able to just freely spam DPS cause the chance of not having MP enough to heal is there.

    Right but causing us to have Mana issues shouldn't be the way to fix the healing in game. That's just going to frustrate players in my opinion.

    Besides AST no healer has trouble with MP currently, so I doubt that's the solution.

    OP, the reason you see so many "switch to DPS" is because the vast majority of those upset by the healer changes are people who really just wanted to play DPS, but wanted faster queues. Same goes for a lot of "blue DPS" out there as well. After the GNB hype wears off, you're actually going to see a REDUCTION in tanks from what we have now, because the new battle system does more damage, causing healers to have to heal more, and tanks to actually pay attention and use cooldowns outside of tankbusters.

    Yoshida and SE are moving to a more traditional format where healers are expected to heal and tanks expected to tank. Not everyone being red, green and blue DPS.

    I'm a tank main, but I play AST quite often in raids as well. I'm looking forward to the changes. And frankly, there are a TON of healers out there that hated being pressured to "do more deeps!", so I don't think those upset with the changes quitting or changing will have as big of an impact on queues as you seem to think.

    I was one of them. I did damage as a healer because it made sense to with the downtime, but I didn't like it. I am a healer first and foremost, and I'm glad to see a bigger focus being put on that.

    As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

    I agree, but I want ex dmg in dungeons ya know? Otherwise still throw excog take nap.
