Stop telling healers to go play dps

I didn't really want to put this on the forums, but I'm kind of tired of hearing it. So recently this new attitude that non-healers have with healers venting their concerns is frustrating. People keep saying if you don't like the healing changes go play a dps. Look that's fine and dandy I guess, but the reason lot of main healers is because we enjoy it. Everyone is okay with all the healers quiting until they can't get through the new trials with the new healers who can't heal and do mechs. Have some sympathy toward us man. Our jobs have so much going on going into this expansion and we are very confused on our role identity. Thanks for reading this vent.

Yikes a little bit of proofreading would have done me well. First part of that was supposed to be me saying that healers shouldn't be healers if they are venting my bad.

I know plenty of healers who HATED being forced to DPS, they're beside themselves with the changes (they aren't vocal about it on forums). Honestly I'm in the camp of that it's the DPS responsibility to DPS, and tanks to an extent. The current mentality encouraged people to roll a healer but only heal very rarely, and the ones that dps more than heal are very bad at it (letting people die because their fflogs are more important).

Sadly this wont end, due to the fact their is ALOT of bad healers who would rather dps than..yanno, heal. Thus letting their tank die or the dps die and in mass player content the healers most of the tine are the first to whine in shout or yell "could someone please tank this!?" Only to be retorted by disgruntled tanks and dps alike "You want it tanked? Heal your friggen tank then!" Then it devolves into what your describing now.

.....I wish I was born Japanese, less of alot of this crap id have to deal with.

I mean yeah I get that but why make a role simpler and push your career healers that can both dps and heal. It's extremely frustrating.

Generally speaking, a healer should only have to heal a few times during a fight. Besides the tank taking auto-attack damage, tankbusters, and unavoidable AOE damage, people should.. I dunno.. not take mechanics to the face, and then blame the healer because they died.

Healers have a ton of downtime in this game, and it isn't asking much of them for them to contribute to the fight.

I'm personally excited to see the changes as I really like the idea of healers focusing more on healing. It was always strange to me that as a healer, a good portion of my time, even the majority in some instances, was spent DPSing.

On the flip side, SE has made us play as a Green DPS for years now, this is just the norm for what a healer is in this game. I think it's to be expected that not everyone is going to be thrilled about a somewhat drastic change in their gameplay. People are allowed to be unhappy about it. Telling healers to go play DPS is not the way to go about it.

With that said, all the screaming of "YOU MADE ALL HEALERS AS BORING AS WHM", "YOU'VE RUINED HEALERS" is maybe a weee bit extreme. While people are able to make some decent guesses on gameplay based on our new toolkit, we don't know how the actual encounters will be - so perhaps it will all balance out.

I think what a lot of people are hoping (myself included) is that the downtime will be reduced somewhat, to where more healing is required and dps windows are smaller for healers.

I mean I'm hoping that damage goes up, but there will still be downtime and now it will probably be boring. They can't make it too difficult because people won't be able to clear.
