Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

To be honest, I joke a lot but some of the stuff here is a little weird. I feel like a lot of the people who want male viera, at least the vocal majority around here, want it for fetish reasons..

Most of the people in here just want to bring their fetishes into a game where it doesn't belong. Then when you point it out, they want to get all preachy about it. The truth of the matter is, their real life fetishes do not belong in a game like Final Fantasy. They can go play Second Life or any adult game for that. Hell they can go play the Sims 4 for that. It doesn't belong in a game like this, I don't care what they say. Plus I very seriously doubt SE is gonna listen to the handful of them that want the male Viera to be turned into a clown race. At least I hope they don't listen.

Just because I want the bunny boy to look a bit more submissive it doesn’t mean I want it for fetish reasons. I’m submissive myself so I just want to be able to kinda resemble myself but I still want to be attracted to my character so that’s why I wanted something neutral.

Congratulations, you're playing what you wanna be. You have made a successful looking "submissive male character". No need to turn Viera into that.

To be fair, the flipside is the game already has that with a vast amount of men playing female characters specifically because they are at least somewhat attracted to them. I am somewhat part of that problem. I play females ONLY in this game, because I think the males in this game look either dumb, or too effeminate. For example, I think the male midlanders are too short and boyish, highlanders look like cavemen, roegdyans look like dollar store hulk action figures, miqo'te are cat dudes, and au ra has too much clipping - I like what they look like though.

However, I do NOT think I race should be designed on the specific fetishes of each group of people, which is what many people here seem to be calling for veiled or not. To be honest, I think some people go way too far with it in mmorpgs - this isn't exclusive to this game either. I remember people reading off people's bios in goldshire or whatever in WoW... really, really weird.

If I got what I wanted in a male it would be a somewhat muscular midlander (human), with a 27-30 y/o masculine "normal" looking face, western hairstyles so I don't look like an emo, 6'2. Cooler heavy armor options as well, but this game seems to lack that.

No one should ever read the RP bios in WoW's Goldshire. >>;; I've seen some dark and dangerous things in those that I'd call the cops for if I could. I took my RP as far from GS as I could lmao.

I just don't understand where people got the idea that Viera would automatically be this submissive twink race??? Or this child like race??? It's clearly stated in the lore right now that male viera are incredibly dangerous, live in solitude, and are rough and tough forest guardians. They're not braiding their hair with flowers and giving themselves the ole purp nurp for funsies. If anything, their hair should be wild and mane-like imo, they should be a relatively scowly looking race, and they should be decently muscular without hulking out or being frail, dainty little bois.

If all the faces are manly then it better not look bad or all be rugged and old looking. I still want a elegant look which would be good enough for me. I just don’t want an ugly face. But I can still find my ways to make him manly but a bit soft looking with tattoos and clothing.

With Yoshi P describing them as handsome, I doubt they'll do anything quite like limiting them to nothing but rugged or old faces.

Yeah but the "if I'm going to stare at a butt the whole day I'd rather it be one I like to stare at" logic isn't much better. Not that I hugely care if people use their characters in that way.

That said, I don't disagree with you on the Viera male aesthetic.

Yeah, I really don't like how fake "buff" midlanders are, even with the slider. They look like they are 16-17 yo most of the time, and the hairstyles don't even get me on the hairstyles more than I already have.. Please SE include the facial hair too!

But I would dare to venture out and say that the majority of the males playing female characters are likely doing it for simpler reasons: better looking gear, MORE gear, generally better looking characters over all. No one is playing any kind of game to intentionally play an ugly character beyond making it a joke and not carrying it to end game. I would say most people are playing something they visually thoroughly enjoy and that in and of itself doesn't have to be sexual. I'm a female, I play my characters as absolutely pretty and busty as I can make them, sometimes I wear armor that makes sense, sometimes I'm a bikini mage. But I also play male characters and I make them as handsome and masculine as I can (hello Highlander daddy face) and dress them badass. Sometimes I make pretty boy Au Ra to have that pretty boy knight in shining armor affect. None of it is in favor of anything sexual, I'm not getting off to pixels, I'm not turning them into some kind of fetish.

I have like 10 alts. I can easily say: there are absolutely ways to make lovely pretty boys without needing to make them a "submissive", fetish twink.

Yes, that is why I am. I will usually play both equally, if they are aesthetically pleasing to me.

Agreed, I actually don't even know what a "submissive" preset would even look like, and I highly doubt the viera would get that treatment. The females in general seem to look more stern for the most part; older than some of the other race's female counterparts - but can still look young and cute - with the same face! I think they were done very well. I think if they were to come out the males would look very similar. Masculine, maybe slightly aggressive presets. The elegant that someone described a page or two ago. Definitely not "submissive" though.
