Absolutely not! I'm sure the majority of people, myself included, who picked up the job wanted the fast paced combat that it brings. The issue that is being addressed here is that proposed changes to the job will be punishing to those with high ping; even more so than the current iteration of the job.
Watching MrHappy's video (starting at the interesting part): https://youtu.be/sGQrLAohLZM?t=200
He uses Wildfire then Hypercharged, starts spamming Heat Blast as soon as he can and ends up being able to only fit 5 of them being just a little short for the 6th.
Am I missing something with the talk about 6 Heat Blast ?

I don't like sharing these "playable" ideas. Some of them are not suitable and do not tackle the main problems which we encounter with mch.
The original post here already says what needs to be fixed. And these problems based on high level theory crafting, not only from kitfox, but also from other players who play the job every day.
I hope that this won't get real, since it will be again a dead job for the next two years. Please don't let this happen!![]()
Bumping for awareness, sick of making my static suffer a 3rd rate job
Can't say I like the idea of just pressing the same button over and over inside of wildfire either. Hope they do something to change this because the current idea of just spamming Gauss round, Ricochet and heat blast is super unappealing and as someone thats been playing Machinist since HW I doubt ill play the class this expac if something doesnt change before savage release.
I like their idea of making us more than just a guy with a gun but theyve dumbed down wildfire so much that its just boring.
Wrong , ninja's gcd is +2.0 so weaving a fuma isn't the same as weaving with a 1.5 recast gcdFrom what I'm seeing, if you're able to Fuma without clipping as Ninja you could do fine with the rework MCH. You're all acting like you have to do a bunch of Raiton without clipping and with the whole Trick Attack debate that's just tryhards who feel afraid they'll get kicked out for not doing enough DPS in a speedrun which a good majority of us won't care about in NA/EU servers.
I can tell you that as I main MCH
and it isn't just about "speedruns" it's about how the job function well for most players not just the 1% who live next to the DC
I think it's important to note that the stance you're using is the one I play from. Well besides the NA/EU servers. The legitimate concern that I feel might have been missed is that whatever problems we might have with ping are potentially exasperated moving forward. So for individuals like yourself and I, it might not feel good to play with all factors taken into consideration due to clipping issues. Issues that contribute to the reasons why it doesn't feel good to play right now. Being a "tryhard speedrunner" actually means very little when we're talking about problems that exist outside of direct player control. From what I'm seeing, if you're able to Fuma without clipping as Ninja you could do fine with the rework MCH. You're all acting like you have to do a bunch of Raiton without clipping and with the whole Trick Attack debate that's just tryhards who feel afraid they'll get kicked out for not doing enough DPS in a speedrun which a good majority of us won't care about in NA/EU servers.
Naturally release will be different and so potentially will 5.05-5.1 also be different. But I think it's much healthier to offer constructive insight on what we think does exist because not doing so will make it that much harder to bring attention to them later

Would love to not be so ping dependent so this has my support.
Was there any big difference between media tour MCH and launch MCH during Stormblood besides Flamethrower being listed as 6 potency? Is there any chance that maybe some of what has been shown now will actually change aside from typos?

S'kinda how I feel. What people aren't understanding is that higher APM (actions per minute) means more susceptibility to high ping. If you're inputting more actions in a shorter period of time, the odds of high ping negatively impacting your performance increases. This is true for gaming in general, not just FFXIV.
I think people want it to be slower/lower APM to reduce ping issues; they just haven't been articulating that desire in a direct manner. As long as MCH has wildfire coupled with some kind of action speed boost as a core mechanic, some people will say the job is clunky, broken, etc. The only way SE can fix it for those people is to remove or severely limit these as job mechanics, thus lowering APM/slowing down the job.
I'm not even mad at SE, regardless of what happens to MCH at this point. I'm in the minority and it feels like playing tug-of-war solo against a crowd of other people who all want MCH to be a low apm, low risk job with a steady pacing, instead of being heavily burst oriented. At this point I kinda want SE to just make a new job in 6.0 where they explicitly and unapologetically design the job from the ground up around a high risk/reward burst window playstyle and design it's aesthetic around the concept.
They can then give MCH the more standard, steady ranged dps playstyle that so many people seem to want from it.
