It doesn't make much sense as to why they would put an achievement that would require large scale of people to throw bodies just to collect port locations for a title. I like challenges and for a challenge wouldn't make much sense to put monsters where (quite possibly) we wont see level cap rise of our own one or two years later.

Like XI I love how we get comments from a small minority that explains something was so easy done by very few people versus a large number of players who didn't (I.e. "it's easy I did it", stop QQ'ing" etc). This is where SE will turn a blind eye until they decide to finally step in to adjust it due to likes or the number of replies. Seriously, where am I going to find people to throw their selves just so a person can get by to get a port location? It doesn't work, which evidently is not a logical achievement. It would make more sense if there were potions available to make traveling convenient if those high level monsters were to remain. I can't picture myself getting past those not even anyone with the sane mind willing to go suicidal to help one person at a time for one location at a time.
I don't know, I totally enjoyed all the suicide runs, and once my friend and I got our gates we'd often buff and engage nearby mobs and make a game out of who could do the most damage before we were brutalized. I laughed more at the shenanigans we pulled off than I laughed at anything in this game, ever.

The single biggest help I've had in getting some of the harder gates (Sea of Spires, Isles of Umbra, South Bloodshore, Larkscall, Lichenweed) is Dread Spike; it's a guaranteed nullification/absorb of the next swing directed at you, and it works even on a hit that would otherwise do 9999 damage. I wish I could give you more tips on the matter, but all I did for the hard gates (the ones with narrow tunnels / no really feasible way to sneak by, that is) was slap on all the "may potentially save my ass" buffs I had on LNC (Decoy, Dread Spike, Featherfoot, Rampart, and Sentinel -- though the last two do nothing against the 70+ mobs), hop on my chocobo and run for my life through packs of mobs. That's all there is to it.

But like I said, you really don't need "tons of bodies" -- just one friend works, and isn't even really necessary. Don't you have a friend or lsmate who wants the gates as much as you? Pick them up and make an adventure out of it.

Hmm, maybe! I'm game to give it another shot just for the sake of experimentation. Not like there's any real harm in trying, haha.

I just did this last week.

Walked right by the crabs. Walked on top of the crabs. Was cake. U doing it wrong.

I just walked past the crabs on my way to The Isles of Umbra. I can confirm that it works.

Thank you leomike35 for the tip! Now, I want to test to see which other mobs are sight/sound aggro!

Where is the "small minority" saying it's easy? We're mostly here saying it's possible and you can even do it solo/duo.

And I can't agree more with Sothis, but I will add that if it was made easy to do, do you honestly think that it would be fun?

Shh! You're making me want to peel myself away from blowing up materia to test this right now. D: I'm wondering why it didn't work when I tried and I want to experiment.

No way! If it was very easy I would've been disappointed. After getting Lichenweed, my friend and I were sad that no gate came anywhere near as challenging to get, haha.

The only hard one in La Noscea is the one west of Iron Lake where the only way to get there is through the north or south tunnels guarded by 84+ sight agro mobs.

I was still able to do this on choco and using decoy and featherfoot.

I meant to add to your statement in case you thought I was directing it to you. ^^

But yeah, I had a lot of fun getting to some interesting places and it would be a shame if this aspect of the game were to go away because a few people dislike it.

I just wish they made misses caused by decoy stop triggering featherfoot as well.

Missing 3 gates in Grid, but already gave up >_>

there is nothing to expler sorry to inform you, all copy and paste environments, everything looks the same. if you haven't been to brittle rock go there, its my favorite place in game right now, and cas. hollow. The entire world is getting remade so you'll be able to explore that without lvl cap.

fyi, a couple people in my LS got pretty much every node so you dont need to be higher lvl to explore.

Yeah, I assumed so, since we share the same sentiments! I've always loved exploring dangerous places; I'd be disappointed if it was all made easy mode.

While a good part of the enviroment is copy paste, I wouldn't say it's not worth exploring; there's plenty of interesting places still, like the Gelmorre Ruins near Lasthold, and - my personal favorite - the crystal chamber in Mor Dhona.
