The critical shield portion of the Crit Adloquium (now a separate buff called Catalyze) can't be deployed. This was probably the strongest part of the Scholar's kit because it made it possible to completely ignore mechanics for the entire party. It's a net buff for a single-target Adlo, but definitely a net loss for Deployment Tactics.

Greatly exaggerated. The damage in the video scales about the same as if you were running Sohm Al and Shisui for the first time when their respective expansion hit.

Currently Adloq is 100% Galvanize Shield base, 200% Galvanize Shield on critical. Current tooltip has it at 125% Galvanize Shield all casts, with an additional 100% Catalyze Shield. Now once you account for only needing a single cast to get the critical adloq, the MP and GCD savings to produce a critlo should roughly outdo a 37.5% loss on shield efficacy (1.25/2.00=.625, 1.00-.625=.375). Considering it removes the MP cost and the RNG of crit, on the first cast you only save MP, every cast required after that is the saving of 2.5s and an entire MP cost, so if it takes say average 3-5 Adloqs to get a crit, that an increase of 66-80% increase in time efficacy and a saving of 3-5 rather expensive MP costs. Not to mention the overall amount of shields a SCH produces will be increased by the Seraph, tho that depends a bit on release day potency of her spells/abilities.

I think that the worst thing about AST is that I actually thought that they did a great job at making the whole dealing-with-cards more interesting on Stormblood, and I wouldn't mind them nerfing some card buffs or even nerfing balance but the original cards still having their own effect.

I was going to use this month to try some new jobs but I actually going to keep playing SCH and AST while they're fun.

Erm.. Not to be rude, but I think you misunderstood me. The changes make it so that you get, in a single cast of a crit Adloquium, a stronger crit shield on a single target (a buff for Adloquium), but in exchange you get a weaker shield when you deploy it (the Catalyze part can't be deployed). The assumption is that given a crit Adlo, it's weaker with the changes when you Deploy it specifically compared to its current iteration. Regardless, fishing for a crit Adloquium is pretty wasteful with how valueable your GCDs and resources are unless you're trying to survive an extremely specific mechanic that requires a spread Critlo to survive, haha.

On the other hand, are you really going to use up deploy's CD on a random crit adloq, given that you pretty much want the target to take 0 damage between the casting of adloq and the use of deployment tactics. Calling it flat out "gone" like the poster I initially replied to mentioned is pretty much factually wrong, weaker yes, but reliability, speed, and cost skyrocketed.

Given say a 10k Base heal with a crit being 150% potency, right now its 10k heal + 10k galvanize shield normal cast 20k ehp total, 15k crit heal+ 30k galvanize shield 45k ehp total. Using the current tentative numbers now it'd be: 10k heal + 12.5k galvanize shield for a 22.5k ehp total, on crit 15k heal + 18.75k galvanize shield + 15k catalyze shield for a 48.75k ehp. Deloying onto an 8man group thats Current: 90k ehp base, 255k ehp crit and SHB Tentative of: 110k ehp base, 180k ehp crit for a net loss between old and new of 75k ehp.

Now don't get me wrong could they buff up the galvanize effect, sure, 150% at most sure, itd shrink the critlo difference between current and tentative SHB from 255k vs 180k to 255k vs 210k.
(10k and 150% crits being used simply because they are easy #s to work with, obviously in gameplay both will be higher)

Neither of those differences are enough to say it's worth more than the reliability gained. Tho all in all, reliability seems to be the Subtitle of the 5.0 Job Changes atm.

I never said it was "gone"; you're prolly thinking of someone else. Quite literally, I said that, in a Critlo scenario, deployment tactics is weaker (a "net loss"), but you get a stronger Adloquium to compensate (a "net gain"). That's literally it.

I don't know if you even realise that I agree with your points. We are going to get a weaker critlo deploy but we get a really powerful buff to compliment Adloquium alongside its potency buffs to compensate. You'd probably benefit from reading as well, but eh, no point in sidetracking the thread on something this petty.
