Alphinaud is becoming a Scholar

Maybe we'll be able to change their jobs ? Perhaps we can actually sortof 'level' them (not like the squad but something along these lines) or choose among a few pre-selected jobs for them (like Thancred could be PLD, NIN or GUN ? Since we witnessed him with these jobs in previous expacs)

Hmm... potentially they could all be able to swap into jobs with different roles so you can pick your favourites rather than being limited to strict choices per role? Everyone who has changed job so far has picked up a different role to what they were doing previously.



Also I wonder if they'll have different conversations depending on which characters you take. My only other experience with a story-focused multiplayer game was Ratchet & Clank one multiplayer story, which had a fantastic detail where characters would have conversations that only played out properly if you had all of them together. So if you went through it with two particular characters, you might get a short conversation between them. Play with the right third character, and you'd get the same conversation but the third character joins in at the end and it goes on longer. All four were needed for the full 'scene' to play out.

Perhaps, with Suzaku coming to light in Stormblood though, I guess we could simply pass it off as that, rather than the truth? We met an actual live Phoenix, rather than some phony summoned one, although that does call into question how we got Primal-Phoenix aether to build a Demi version, but I'm sure the layman doesn't know Summoners mechanics in that detail anyway.



Firebird Trance is Lv72 though, no? I guess that's not technically a summoning, but it's still us deciding to use Phoenix aether in exactly the same way we ended up using Bahamut aether, without guidance.

According to Larryzaur Phoenix itself spawns at lvl 80. So i guess we have phoenixes aether since the Coils arc or something[?]

I told my friends during the benchmark trailer that he was using broil 3 and was most likely a sch in the trust system. They all said I was grasping at straws. Oh time to make them eat crow.

Also I honestly think that Urianger should have been the sch. Has the man even seen the night sky enough to be an astrologian? Last time I checked he lived in the waking sands next to a pile of books.

As someone who played Scholar in XI, and very much saw it as the mirror to Red Mage, it is oddly pleasing to have the twins play the two Jobs. Not quiet the same for XIV obviously, if anything Red Mage mirrors Astrologian while Scholar and Summoner naturally share a root.

Will he still be using Carbuncle though? I've wanted a fully fleshed out Pet Glamour system for the longest time, and Scholar getting a Carbuncle option (with something like Healing Ruby as a skill) was a part of that...

I guess it makes sense of Urianger to be an AST. He always liked reading ancient text, especially ones containing prophecies and part of Astromancy is reading the stars and land to predict possible future events.

From a gameplay perspective, I expected Minfilia to be a DNC or another support dps since it seems like we like a support dps Trust npc from what we've seen so far. Though, I can see Thancred, being a dagger-user, teaching Minfilia how to use daggers since she was also gifted a dagger.

So far, Thancred is the only tank of the Scions. Hopefully in future patches we'll get more Trust npcs to choose from. The Scions are fine, but I've always been more fond of the other npcs such as Arenvald, Hoary, Ocher, etc.

From Ethys's video on Dohn Mheg yes the Trust allies will have dialouge in the Say chat, though I didn't actually start paying attention to that part till near the halfway point. I don't know if they get actual conversations though. Alisae was the most chatty of his group which included Thancred and Alphinaud. Also Trusts have some special ways of dealing with certain situations that players can't do (Poor Dragoons. Can jump so high but can't cross a three for bottomless pit.)

On the topic itself I honestly always thought Alphinaud would be either an Arcanist or Scholar. The more surprising thing to me is that Minfillia will actually be fighting with us. People can't complain about her not doing that anymore atleast.

With the npc jobs in mind, I like to headcanon that Thancred went tank so he could carry his daughter through the game, letting her play her way which is why Minfilia hasn't done her ninja quests to upgrade to a job, and if anyone in a dungeon tries to call her out for being a rogue at level 70, Thancred and her will just vote kick them.

All the videos of the new dungeon show that they also use their skills in a very in-character way! It's pretty great. I laughed at Alisaie charging across the bottomless pit while Urianger waits for someone else to cross before using them to move himself...and Thancred just uses shukuchi.

Hold up. Did they make the trust system and plan it so everyone is in character. Bc I saw what happened with Alphinaud against that boss fight and it was endlessly adorable.
