    Yo~! New Aussie Gal here!

I finally got the chance to play FFXIV~!
But I'm struggling, I have no idea of anything and I'm simply killing anything in my way.
I'm seeker of the sun miqo'te, I'm seeing how I go with the dragoon(?) class but I think its possible to take up another? See, this is actually my first MMO. I don't know how the Guild's work or these Levequests.
I'm sorry if I'm asking for a lot here, and I know I should look these up in the forums but there's sooooo much!
If possible, anyone willing out there, could they link me to a post or maybe even quickly summarize these questions I have?:

    1. How do I change classes and what happens to the distribution points when I do? (is it wise to change my main class at Lv 11 on something else or do I have a low enough level to do so? And do the abilities of each class only work when in that class? e.g, an archer can use cure?)

    2. How do these Levequests work and would I need to join a group to participate in most of these?

    3. Is it possible to start your own Guild? How do the Guild's work in FFXIV?

Thank you in advance if you help and Sorry in advance if I sound really ignorant, I'm trying my best to understand everything and even most of the forum topics confuse me!

I'd also really appreciate any general advice..
I feel like I've asked for a lot, sorry!

(Psst, I also want to make some new friends in game! So Lets be Friends!)

Welcome to the game and the forums!

    1. You can change class by changing your weapon, so if you want to go from being a Lancer to an Archer, simply find a bow and some arrows to buy, equip them, and bada-bing - you're an Archer! Changing class will not affect your allotment points for the class you have already been playing and some weapon skills and magic are cross class so, for instance, yes you can use cure on Archer, but you cannot use cura as that is a class specific spell. full list of class skills can be found here -http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post476429

    2. Levequests are pretty simple to grasp, once you pick a few up. Basically you locate the Adventurer's Guild in the city state you are in (it should be marked on your map, when you open it up) go to the desk, and depending on who you talk to, you will either open up a menu that has levequests for Disciple of the Land (Botanist, Miner, Fisher) or a menu with levequests for Disciple of War/Magic (called Battlecraft leves) or Disciple of the Hand (called Fieldcraft Leves) and you can choose the catgory that corresponds or is closest to your level (they go up in incremements of 10 I believe), choose the leve you want and go find the camp where the leve takes place and start killing things.

As for grouping up to do leves, I *think* it is a more solo effort nowadays til the later levels, but you can begin grouping at around lvl20 or so, but feel free to make a group before then.

    3. It is possible to start your own guild, but in this game, they are called Linkshells. I think this wiki adequately describes how to get one started -http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Linkshell

I hope all this answers your questions, happy adventuring! ^^

Solid advice there, but I ought to offer a small correction. Fieldcraft leves are for Disciples of the Land and are offered at the same counter as battlecraft leves. These are tied to a camp like battlecraft leves, but instead of fighting monsters you gather valuable materials from the area.

Local leves are offered from the other NPC at the counter and are for Disciples of the Hand. Essentially NPCs pay you gil and materials for crafting items from the materials they provide.

You get 4 leve allowances every 12 hours, and can store up to 99. Leves are generally done solo, but for War and Magic classes it's almost always better for XP to be in a group with people within 5 levels of your own, rather than playing solo.

do your self a favor and lvl archer, its the most independent class requiring the least amount of skills from other classes and is always in demand. there are plenty of threads in these forums of people complaining cause they cant get a party cause they are not archer, lol.

Not to sound condescending, but it seems pretty bad if Lodestone or in-game tutorials haven't covered these topics yet, since they're all pretty much things a beginner should learn early in the game. :/

Guildleves are covered both on Lodestone and in-game, as long as you follow the advice of the adventurer's guild NPC (It's Momodi in Ul'dah, Baderon in Limsa, I don't know what the name is in Gridania). Lodestone covers class changing as well, but I don't think most people look at the Play Guide section and only use it to get to the forums.

Neither, as far as I know, cover linkshells but I don't think that's as necessary as the other two since most people don't make their own shells.
