Using your logic, CoP and ToAU were failures as well.

The only issue was SE was working on FFXIV during WoTG's lifespan, which slowed down story implementation.
This is the type of response I would expect from someone who doesn't have a legitimate response. I am proud of the accomplishment I made in FFXI. For your information I have taken 13 jobs to the highest levels and know how to use them. I have completed virtually all the missions, expansions <WotG excluded>and mini expansions and for the longest time held the highest rank in WotG. I have participated in over 90% of the end game content and have been part of the winning team multiple time . As for friends I have been playing with the same core group of 20 people for the last 4 years and still do. We have fun. Most of them have not completed the WotG missions for the same reason as me. The entire concept of the expansion was repetitive and boring

The only part of your response I find valid is that SE did not suppot it for whatever reasons.

Your reason is invalid for not doing missions, you do them to continue the story and get the reward items (alot of which in WotG are useful) I never completed it because I couldnt find people to do it.

If WotG was a failure then why could would you struggle past the 30s when everyone was expin in east ronf [S], a failure means hardly anyone bought it, when everyone had it because it was some of the best mid lvl exp and the best high level solo exp everyone used to rebuffer after huge exp loss events.

It was not a failure you just didnt enjoy it.

Topic: They could do something with the echo, but honestly, the prestory (Umbral era one?) settles just fine -- When they mentioned 2.0 in interviews I believe they said most important people and locations and etc will still exist, so yeah.

Re: WoTG failure: I don't see how it was a failure, the only people who disliked it were the ones who only cared about gear, which it lacked an end-game in the style of Zilart or CoP. It was no secret that they were working on FFXIV during 2007-2009 given the lull in actual content additions at that period, but to say it was a failure is a bit much -- It had the best cinematography out of all expansions, it also gave you the backstory on many events in this game that people did have questions about that couldn't buy/read the Japanese lore book released.

If any expansion was a failure it would be the first 3 add-ons if you didn't care for the story or the gear.

The Garleans watch in dismay from the sky as the land is overrun and call forth Meteor to cleanse Eorzea of this blight.

Our deaths, and subsequent resurrection by the Twelve, throws us into v2.0, and the Seventh Umbral Era. And no one remembers what happened except those with the power of the echo and, of course, the Garlean Empire.
Yeahhh I like the whole "Primals destroying everything" idea, and then having to destroy them with Meteor..
And the echo would play a good part in remembering the event, and tell the players who would need to be punished (which would be the Garleans as you mentioned).

Hmm perhaps after the events, then the Primal souls/spirits whatever will still be around, and you'd be able to summon those for your own benefits. (I know SE already has a plan for summoning, just another thought)

Some nice ideas here, hope they get collated and passed to the devs when the reps get back.
