The first ever named WHM in the series was in FFII, a man named Minwu, Terra from FFVI, and to a degree Celes as well, are "RDMs", Celes is usually known as a Rune Knight, but Terra is referred to as a RDM in multiple promotional media. Quistis from FFVIII is well known for her Blue Magic, and Quina from IX might count, even though the sex is ambiguous; though the game tends to treat them more as a girl than boy.

And in regards to what this topic is referencing. The FFXIV RDM is a female miqo'te. The artwork, not the quest giver.

Going by that logic then rdm and blue are in a way a balanced between male and female cause the first rdm is a guy from ff2 not terra from ff6 and first blue mage is male from ff6 as well not quistis from ff8 and if you'll add quina from ff9 (who doesn't really have a clear gender) then might as well add kihmari a male ronso from ffx and he is blue mage and lancer, as for ffxiv the cover art doesn't really matter cause the trailers of the ffxiv shows male, in the benchmark trailer the rdm is miqo'te male there's also a cover art released for it illustration of rdm of miqo'te male and even blue mage person you meet to take blue quest from is male hyur, so yea from what i see i don't see those 2 as femlae jobs if anything i can see them as balanced between the 2 genders, but then again i get where you coming from so i said all i wanted to say so got nothing to say anymore.
