It really depends, apart from the case I just mentioned, you really need to put a lot to trigger a vote-kick with me in regular content. Most of the time, I don't read party / alliance chat if there's nothign wrong so I'm out of the drama. Sometimes some runs take a long time and I just think "it happens" so I won't track whose fault it is.

In a Savage / Extreme primal setting, I've seen some kicks due to underperformance of players (healers mostly but sometimes DPS), and while I agree it's annoying I think it's fair as long as it's justified : we died on a healing/DPS check several, there's a problem. In the end, everyone is losing their time so I'll agree at some point you need to break the team and start again.
Context matters, if someone is given grief for using the wrong fairy (Eos, Selene) and it's a regular duty, that is pathetic on the other persons part however. Once you reach the level of Savage I do change my criteria, unlike other content I can have a reasonable expectation of skill and if you clearly suck and don't know the fight or even worse your rotation (and its not learning) then I will kick people. I am not here to have my time wasted and again context matters, I wouldn't do that in regular instances but once we are talking Savage then its different rules but it goes without saying since its like an unwritten rule you'll be kicked if you haven't even learned your rotation

You just need to openly communicate. That's a wonderful method to have a good standing.

It just happened yesterday to myself. Level 50/60 Roulette. We get into Pharos Sirius, and then the worst case happened: I. Screwed. Up.

Well, we didn't die. But for some reason I had no Esuna on my skillbar. I just had not. And then there were the Siren's debuffs... Tank was asking for that and my eyes scanned trough my skillbars and I just kept them alive and removed that debuff by healing them up to 100% (Phew, that detail saved me/us!).

After we've done it I said that "I am legit sorry but I have no cleanse on my skillbar." They also knew I just returned and threw my skillbars together to vaguele look like I remembered it in 2015 by muscle memory - without Esuna. The tone changed quickly, they said that it was allright and despite that I did well.

2 commendations. For being an Esuna-less Scholar in that run..

Fair enough, communication is key and on both parties parts. You could have easily been that guy to deflect and act like you arent at fault but you were open and honest and it worked out. This is the other side and that is being humble and knowing when you made a mistake you might as well own up tt it but that is more of an overall life lesson I guess lol

Over the years i've seen kicks and been kicked from dungeons for all manner of things. Some legitimate. Players going Afk for the length of the dungeon. Disappearing offline. Harassing other players.
Some less legitimate. Players kicked for not doing enough dps. Healers kicked for only healing. I myself was kicked from an Aurum Vale run for refusing to pull the entire first room as a PLD.
There are just some bad people out there. That's really all there is to it.

I never understood this mind set for regular msq content or any content outside of the savage fights. Just recently two FC members and I were in a dung and got The Tam-Tara Deepcroft The tank (who was new, leaf and all) was going a regular speed (no full pulls) and my in-game husband decided this was too slow. He then did no DPS to and moved a bit ahead to give the subtle hint (we need to go faster) and I told him its not about him and he can go. HE actually did leave and we finished the dungeon. I think in situations like these others can help the situation out and turn something negative into a positive.

    I’ve only been kicked once.
Because they didn’t like that I was DPSing as WHM.

Their own words, even. Their loss, I guess.
I also don’t understand how people find themselves kicked so often it’s a notable thing to them.

I've seen people complain about unjust vote kicks for years but I could probably count the amount of times I've seen it on one hand since ARR launch. And not a full hand either. If someone gets kicked it's usually because they are holding the group back and/or are being jerks.

I tend to just avoid any content that involved someone complaining they got kicked from a party.

They never give the full story.
    They're always the victim
They say it happens all the time when in fact it's either only happened once or a complete attention seeking fabrication because as we all know, drama and being offended is trendy.

I would estimate that 99% of all player accounts have probably never experienced being kicked from a party and of that 1%, majority is because of being disconnected too long for the party, followed by being afk/lazy in msq roulette (for example), followed by being disruptive.

So yes, maybe you are lucky, but I reckon if you're at least a regular player who doesn't mouth off when some tiny thing goes wrong or go afk for 5-10 minutes, you'll probably not experience being kicked.
