The 'bear with us' part was very interesting to me. Seeing as that basically means 'have patatience' - we will be getting our answer. It's very much a please wait and we hope to deliver, type of sentence. I will however not get my hopes up. But it's still nice to have some communication.

And don't you realise he's talking about mere NPCs?
Because it's crystal clear. For whenever position you put it, it's either for NPCs or a way to say "sorry but won't happen" after they said "we know some people blame but we don't care at all and we decided it together". Just practical.

They already do it when they say that Mr. Yoshida stated near the 2.0 launch that there would be no more gender locked races ever again in ffxiv yet no one can produce any evidence of this statement actually existing. I've been looking for it since the Tokyo fanfest.

Coming from both a legacy player who has followed this game super close since 2010 and someone who really doesn't care about genderlocking at all and would rather see genderlocks if it give us more races, I will still confirm he did say this when discussing male Miquote and female Roe. He claimed it was an antiquated system that no longer served a purpose in mmos. But he gave his reasons on why they were brought back and they make sense. I don't see the issue, personally.

There was a lot stated back in the day that cannot be found now about a variety of subjects, game mechanics and so on. There was A LOT of information coming out weekly across dozens of sites, interviews and formats, so its not unheard of that not all can be found. He also made many claims about a lot of things and then never mentioned them again. It's kindda Yoshida's MO. If they cannot make something work, instead of telling us so and giving us reasons, he just never talks about it again, no matter how often he is asked. Their transparency is very lackluster, I am surprised as all get out we got this statement from him, but I think it was only due to the severe reaction a small number of people had.

Same with instances like this genderlock one. He makes a statement and once he changes his mind, he changes his mind. But you know what, he is director/producer. So if he wants genderlocks on races or big ol bows on top of goobbue, we are gonna get it. Don't like it? /shrug There is a lot I don't like about this game and a lot I do. I give criticism if I think something was a poor choice or implemented poorly, but devs need constructive criticism, which is why white knights are so detrimental to a game. A game cannot improve if all you do is give praise, no matter how poorly implemented something is. But I also don't rampage and throw tantrums over something so trivial.

ERP is bad both ways, female or male. Viera is a legendary race in FF's world, they always been female-only and very requested, I don't see any problem about it.
