I think they already send some work to third parties. But it wouldn't kill them to send third parties some more work if it lightened up their work load.

However we can already see that the dev team is struggling to keep up with the patch release schedule...the patch content of today is noticeably smaller than the patch content of 2.0. Since HW we have have seen a decline in the content each patch receives....whether this decline continues will only come apparent during the 5.0 patch timeline. If the decline does continue then it's inevitable that eventually they will have to start pushing back patch releases, regardless of how many races we have....genderlock or no genderlock....

Personally I would much rather have quality over quantity...if SE need to push back patch releases in order to maintain quality content, then I fully support that! Otherwise we'll just end up with patches filled with shallow, throw away content....oh wait...

Who is hijacking male viera? They’re not yours to be hijacked lol. Many people want androgynous male viera (because that’s what they’re said to be up until the age of 13.) You always say you want classically handsome male viera, so why aren’t you hijacking from the people who want androgynous viera? You can play any other race save for Lalafell and you have a strong looking male character, it is unnecessary to have yet another male of a race being cookie cutted out for people who desire big strong men.

Especially since there is not one single definition on what a classical handsome man is. Ask each culture and time period and you will get a different answer. For me these Kpop men are handsome. And since in asia countries you will have way more slim and small men these might be their classical handsome men for them.

Also Lalafells are imo quite away from being anything near handsome so if you want to have someone that is at least tall as a human but more androgynous you wont find that in this game. While you have more than enough options to create a manly man.

Honestly I found the argument that they cant be androgynous because they are protectors of the forest bad(lets not forget that they are more like nomads in the JP version)...even though you would probably be way better in stealth if you are smaller built because you have more places to hide and you also wont need a direct confrontation. Also its kinda funny seeing how this is a fantasy game...a game where lalas can take down gigantic monsters with no problem..

I honestly dont understand why they simply not just say that we cant wear headgear on the new races instead of changing it all. This way you will already have less work that would be needed for the missing genders and as long as you told this in the character editor nothing big should come out of that. Or have the headgear be something for the future when you have both races completely in the game thus only need to do it once for all of them.

I just dont understand what the huge reasons are to implement them. Any new race will be work but its not like they are completely different built then the existing ones. Heck since the Hrothgar are more beastly you could make the females ones just males with a slightly slimmer built and maybe some smaller changes in the faces. And for male Viera you already stated that they would be similiar to Elezen so take that as a basic and modify them. We are not talking about races that are suddenly walking on four legs, or that have wings or anything like that on their body.

I think their problem is that they create too much content for a niche playerbase. If you have this patch structure then maybe it would be better to have longliving content that most players would want to play. Look at Eureka..such a huge amount of content over the whole expansion and only a minority of it finished it. Of course then people will cry out and say that they have nothing much to do thus we need more patches. In the end FF14 is one of their cash cows and one of bigger MMOs on the market..yet seemingly they dont get enough budget. If they have more ressources then maybe they could also give us more without having to take away from other things. And then those niche contents can also exist too.

We were told that there will never be gender locked races again and now all we receive is excuses of well two races with two genders is too hard. Then don't put either in and keep your word. Or do as your doing and lose your honesty.

I would prefer less patches but with more and betetr content on them. Also, I doubt it would take them an extra 2 months because of new models, so I doubt anyone will complain about waiting 0.5 months extra. Then, I think that it's worth the resources to do male viera and female hrotgar instead of spending them on limited jobs, Eureka, Diadem 2.0 (yes, it is confirmed qwq) and spend them on adding these new races and making better dungeons, raids and other things like that

I imagine they're going to be part of their racial gloves in the same vein that Viera heels are only going to be on their racial shoes.

A bit disappointed the letter covered what was already said/known... nothing really new except:

While you won’t meet any in person, if we developers can find a way to address the various problems which are preventing us from implementing them, then perhaps someday you’ll be able to see them for yourself.

Although "see them yourself" kinda sounds like "we might add some NPCs to make them feel like real races" and not as a playable gameplay feature. Hopefully they will see the value in it and plan better in the future.

Mostly the letter just cemented how much I really, really wish they'd stop gendering equipment. It's very disappointing to see a cool set only to learn I cannot wear it or it looks completely different on my character. NIN set looked so good on Oboro, I was so excited while leveling up! But then I got it and it looked awful on my character with tights and exposed chest - I will not wear it, it's terrible. ShB BRD AF is very disappointing compared to the male version too. To know they continue to design separate sets like this at the cost of developing other things is even more upsetting...

Yep, and it's making me wonder where the funds are going - what are they spending these resources on? There is an awful lot of content that sees precious little use. Certainly, far less than the missing genders for each race or updated graphics/customisation options would see.

Whilst as a PVE-focused MMO it needs the lure of high end raids, there is an awful lot of content that does not add similar value yet which sees extremely low uptake (e.g. PVP modes, Gold Saucer content, even Eureka) and yet act as resource hogs on the game. So why continue spending on these ... rabbit holes, given how tight the budget is for whatever reason SE sees fit? Even with Eureka, I think the majority of the weapons were just average. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but as I pay a sub for the game, and have spent on Mogstation besides, I do have to question where the money is going.

Respectfully, Its not your place to manage other peoples expectations. And they will do the "WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THIS THING YOU 'PROMISED'!?!?!?" threads anyways reguardless. They already do it when they say that Mr. Yoshida stated near the 2.0 launch that there would be no more gender locked races ever again in ffxiv yet no one can produce any evidence of this statement actually existing. I've been looking for it since the Tokyo fanfest.
