I know this is off topic but can you explain what you found difficult about DRG? I'm just curious as I am picking it up myself.

It's partially my fault if I'm going to be honest about it. I never incorporated Jump and Spineshatter drive as part of my rotation when they became available so I never was used to using them when Mirage Dive became available. I preferred using Spineshatter dive as a gap-closer because Dragonfire Dive has a ridiculously long cool-down.

So rather than having to expand my rotation gradually as meant, I suddenly had to add several keys to my rotation at once that I wasn't used to.

it's not just because of the OGCD damage that you include these jumps, mind you. Mirage Dive is needed to open the dragon eye that unlocks Life Of the Dragon which makes that monster of a OGCD, Nastrond, available.

Once you learn the rotation, it's not too bad. But I imagine I'm not the only noob who doesn't include jumps as part of their lower level rotation.

I usually do only because it gets things done faster, but everytime I take a break from dragoon i have to run back down to our training dummy at our company house and practice for a solid 5 minutes to refresh my memory. the thing is when you get the capacity to do Wheeling thrust into fang and claw and vice versa it throws a lot of people off the first few days.

then you learn that's gonna be part of your major rotation and it feels...awkward and clumsy.

Don't worry. You were new to the class, and there's a lot of pressure on Dragoon.

It's important to point out you didn't say it was too complicated -- you said it was stressful. Positionals, mechanics, making the decision to jump or not in the span of a GCD, maintaining your buffs, being in melee, and even the pressure to doubleweave Battle Litany with Dragon Sight can be a bit much at first.

Said they were new to tanking (I mean I guess high 30s on that job is "new" but okay, and they had several 70s), and it was only Toto-Rak so it certainly wasn't impossible (though I basically had to heal just about non-stop)...

Highlights include an on-level tanking helm, what looked to be a white, non-HQ Disciple of War chest piece from the mid-teen levels...and basically level 1 stuff. Or rather, level 1 glamour gear, that had been glamoured to other stuff. Ever seen the Emperor's New Necklace glamoured to another level 1 necklace that was visible?

funny enough this is the main rotation I try to remember, but because half the time I'm getting partys where I need to make up for something some of these aren't availible when I start the ENTIRE thing. but I do like how this is probably the smoothest rotation you can use.

I don't think it was an intentional troll. This honestly happens a lot. People rush through the levels, figure they know the content well enough that being undergeared isn't "that big of a deal," and then struggle.

Fear of putting healers through this put me in PotD even as a tank. I'll be getting my last two levels in HoH because I'm not geared enough for the dungeons at my level (68).

And given how much pressure there is, being under level 40 is definitely still "new" in my view. Just because of how fast leveling goes, and low level tanking doesn't teach tanks much.
