No, no, no. PLD will definitely have a shield. That much is pretty obvious given the concept art and the 2.0 gameplay screen shot.

The question is if there is a job-specific shield for the PLD set, or if you're given the freedom to select the shield you would like to equip. Both are valid approaches honestly.

Yea, I wouldn't be upset if that was the case. Ideally I'd want there to be a shield as part of the set, but the freedom to still use any shield. Something that goes with the set aesthetically :P

I have a feeling that all weapons equipped by jobs will be job specific only. Like a PLD cannot equip any sword, a DRG any lance, etc. Already rather obvious that a BRD won't suddenly transform the Ifrit's Bow into a musical turd. The weapons may get their own names for the type they are even, like Holy Sword, Dragon Lance, etc.

It'd make sense if the PLD, even if had little choice when it came to swords, had all the choices when it came to shields.
