It's not the awkward house placement in Shiro, so much as the absolutely awful interiors... I can't stand the red on the walls and ceiling, and the pillars/staircases are the worst imo.

Lavender Beds has the best interiors for me by far, but what keeps it from being number 1 is that I feel claustrophobic outside. Being surrounded by the trees and waterfalls is nice, but there's only a small opening to the sky - unless you want to run around looking straight up all the time?

I actually don't mind the Goblet at all, but if I could change/fix anything, it would be the grass when it rains... Looks horrid wet! lol

I love how wild it is here. It is the only housing area with little flowers that speckle the grassy areas. I feel like any style fits here (Mist too). I love the glowing flowers. All the plants.
    Mist
Has a special place in my heart because the area introduced me into housing. It is where my FC had their first small. It is also a bit more playful and wild as for housing placement and nature balance.
    Goblet
I love the area around the water in the middle. But am not so familiar with the area and do tend to get lost here a bit. I do think their interior is prettier than Mist for some reason. The pilars are nicer and it has something gothic or like a church in style to it. It has a very lovely charm of it's own. I have set my apartment in this region for this reason.
    Shirogane
I basically love this area as much as Mist and Goblet tbh so they aren't really ranked for me. I do rank Lavender Beds on top because it is the location of my house currently.
For a short time I had a small house in this area at location 17. So right by the sea with that lovely building next to it with this little nook in which I liked to see over my garden. I actually enjoyed making the garden and I actually love the east asian style and vibe to it. But I wasn't as happy as I was with my LavBeds home. I missed the wild. Felt like being bound to stick with the east asian theme. Of course I wasn't really. Everyone is free to go for any style in any area. I loved it but I also felt like everything was so pristine and perfect. It is beautiful and oh it has some wild nature of it's own and oh the lovely hotsprings and little corners and lovely beaches to hang with friends if one wants to. Oh and the sunsets are so beautiful

But still... So as soon as I saw that there was a medium free in Lavender Beds I decided it was time for me to go back there as Gridania is a bit of my home hub in the game. I also use it a lot to travel from if I feel like going on a mount trip to the Thanalan region. I know one can warp but I love traveling a lot on mount a lot too
(get to see a lot of nice things this way and catch a fate or so if leveling a job on the road). So next to loving the area it just makes more sense to have my place there as a home to return to after each gaming session.

I have an apartment in Mist, and I agree that it's the best housing zone. The apartment building is close to the beach and the docks, where, unlike the other housing zones, you can just take a boat right into the nearby city. And it's a beautiful neighborhood!

Lavender Beds is also beautiful. I go back and forth on whether it or Mist is prettier. But LB is less conveniently located in relation to its city, and the apartment building is on the opposite end from the docks.

I don't know much of anything about Shirogane or the Goblet. I've been to each of those neighborhoods once, just to have a look around for a sidequest.

I decided early on that Mist was the place for me mainly for cheap and easy access to Limsa. My home city is Gridania, so I can just Return there, and if I need to go to Ul'dah I can take an airship there for free from Gridania by stopping at the Gold Saucer first and maybe scratching off some Mini Cactpot tickets while I'm there. So, my Mist apartment basically gives me a super-cheap teleport to the other main city, Limsa.

I'm probably an odd one out, but:

    1. Goblet
    2. Lavender Beds

Mists/Shiro don't really interest me. It feels too cut and clean.
I'm biased towards Goblet as well because I started out as a monk who wandered into the housing area unknowingly and become instantly starstruck by an mmo with housing.

    1. Goblet: Thanalan has really grown on me so I jumped at the chance to relocate from Mist when I found a house right by the pool. I think the center is lovely and think that there's a ton or potential if SE tweaked the outside view to give a little extra to the folks with homes on the outside rims. Really go for that "Oasis in the desert" look that the center has with more landscaping.

    2. Lavender Beds: Not gonna lie, if I lived anywhere else it would be here because I love the lush green look. My FC is there so I get to hang out there a lot and love it.

3: Mist: It's simple and clean. Really neat Mediterranean look

4: Shirogane: Pretty, but not for me.

    What's yours?
All of them would be unfair for me to state that like one more than other would be lying.
If could would have one plot in each.

I do love my plot 60 in Mist and can't imagine moving from it short of some amazing new housing getting added.

Except every housing district does have a way to go directly into the associated city-state.

Goblet has a Flame Private stationed near the main entrance that will take you to just outside the Miner's Guild in Ul'dah (marked as Residential Area Guide on the district map).

Lavender Beds likewise has a Serpent Private at the docks by the Ferry Skipper to take you directly to the ferry dock outside the Lancer's Guild.

There is no place to go when leaving Shirogane except Kugane when you talk to the Ferry Skipper at Akanegumo Bridge Docks.

The difference for Mist is the Storm Private is located on the opposite side of the ward from the main entrance while the other GC Privates are located at the main entrance.

Ideally someday I can move my house from Goblet to Ishgard, and my apartment from Mist to Goblet, and still enjoy FC/friend's house in Mist for the best of my real top three.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but:

    1. Goblet
    2. Lavender Beds
    3. Mist
    4. Shirogane.

I actually really like the Goblet. I like the pool, I like the canyon scenery, I like the almost mazelike layout and tunnels in some areas. I can see why some people don't like it as much, but for me, it's great. And I guess sadly the closest thing to ala mhigan housing we're likely to ever get.

After that is lavender beds, largely because I really like the swimming spring area. I like the Mist a lot too but that helps edge LB slightly above it.

I don't think Shirogane is 'bad' but the eastern theme just isn't my cup of tea and I tend to prefer the Eorzean zones.
