if some people want the mmo more than the jrpg, why force them? No one is saying remove story from the game. They are just saying give those who dont want to do story, or want to do it on their own terms, that option.

Because they are other game that focus on that, and that a game shouldn't be change because a little part decide they only wanted the half of it.
its a game as a service, it changes all the time.
when i first started it was 1.0, the entire story structure was way different, as was leveling, things changed
then i leveled a new charachter for 2.0, like 250 quests. getting from start to endgame was a lot less msq, and you get like 10 quests every 2-3 months. Also by 50 you had alk your skills, complete rotations.
now, a new player buying shadowbringers because they like dancer and this warrior of darkness in a light world, would have to do like, 700 quests, thats a lot. Your new friend asks when he can play gunbreaker, and you tell him, you just have to do 700 quests to unlock it. Even if he did 10 quests a day, thats like 2 months.
the game has changed, with every expansion, the ladder for newbies grows. They can give exp bonus rings for newbs, and preorders, lower experience needed to level, but MSQ is currently a binary hard lock on content.
its not the same being a new player now, the game has changed, msq needs something to balance out those changes.
your concept of hard and takes forever is very different than others. If you got your friend to buy shadow bringers by showing them dancer, then told them it will only take two months before they can play that class, what do you think they would say?
also, it took people substantially less time to get to max in arr. probably 2-3 weeks.

"I can't wait to level my mnk to 70 so I can unlock dancer and level dancer to 70!"
"I can't wait to play 90% of this games story as a class I didn't want to play, so I can play the class I want to play!"
"I love spending $60 on the game, $15 on a sub, $26 for a story skip, $26 for a level boost, so I can play dancer!"

Can you at least get your facts straight with all your whining?"I can't wait to level my mnk to 70 so I can unlock dancer and level dancer to 70!"
"I can't wait to play 90% of this games story as a class I didn't want to play, so I can play the class I want to play!"
"I love spending $60 on the game, $15 on a sub, $26 for a story skip, $26 for a level boost, so I can play dancer!"
You won't have to level to 70 or finish most of the story content to access dancer, a single level 60 job will be enough; same as having a level 50 character is enough to unlock SAM/RDM. So even if you want to continue that impatient brat scenario of yours, as a new player you'd only have to spend $25 / 21.75€ to get immediate access to Dancer and Gunbreaker - even less if you wait on a sale, like the one we have right now.
Also, since when does the game cost $60?
You complaining about the new player experience in this game, while being completely misinformed about most things, is just as ridiculous as daily roulette heroes judging the endgame content.

What do you mean you can't play with them? Most of the msq is just quests. The solo duties aren't even 10% of the msq quests. If you want to you can run around killing things with them. At this stage you're just searching for reasons to say the msq is a wall between you and your friends.
So then every trinity based mmo is a fail in your eyes, given that queuing for content will eat into your two-hour window which automatically renders the game a fail.
A lot of what you're listing here aren't even in daily lockouts. If you're annoyed that you can't fit a bunch of weekly and daily things, and help someone with the msq in a two hour window that's your own fault for giving yourself an unattainable goal. Not the game's. Two hours is a very small amount of time in any mmo.
But you can do most of the msq in a party. It's literally only the solo duties that can't be done in a party. If you think watching a cutscene or going off to do one solo duty every so often counts as ditching someone then you need to reevaluate what it means to be a reasonable person.
Actually you will only need to get to lvl 60 so buying a boost will be enough to unlock it. Zero effort.
If you only like one class out of the huge choice you get from lvl 1 then that's just your taste not aligning with the game. There is quite a lot of choice from lvl 1. It's rare for someone to like only one class in the entire game.
You don't have to pay for the last two to play dancer. Stop spouting out this misinformation. You're making dancer sound like paid dlc in addition to buying ShB when all you need to do is get to lvl 60. You don't need to buy jump potions to unlock it.

I do wish SE would have made all the jobs available @ 30 for this reason, so I agree with you on that point.now, a new player buying shadowbringers because they like dancer and this warrior of darkness in a light world, would have to do like, 700 quests, thats a lot. Your new friend asks when he can play gunbreaker, and you tell him, you just have to do 700 quests to unlock it. Even if he did 10 quests a day, thats like 2 months.
Now everyone is saying this is a MMORPG but what does that even mean? MMO is basically a game you play with other people in an open environment. RPG is a game where you do some kind of story, mainly through quest. Both WoW and FFXIV check those boxes. Now I played WoW a little prior to and after BFA launch and guess what, I had to grind through main story quest to get to the end, gasp. Yes, i had boost that let me skip to the relative content on one character, but then had to grind through story on other jobs. The difference with FFXIV is, you only have to do the MSQ once with all jobs. ARR is the only really roadblock here because it does have a ton of MSQ. HW and SB will walk new players all the way to max level without much need for side quest. I still have tons of side quest in SB that Dancer and Gunblade will be doing.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the grass isn't greener on the WoW side of the house, if you think MSQ is bad trying unlock new races on WoW. I had to grind for a month just to get Void and Nightborne Elf. And of course you have to level that new race from level 1 wi6th no boost if you already used your free ones.
