I hate it actually. I also have imaginary friends, and I am insecure.
Yes, a reasonable response. I would rather see a streamlined experience so that new players coming in can come to enjoy the game we have, the way we do now. Think about this in a couple years time with another expansion, or longer maybe two, and they still only have story skip? Do you think it is a sustainable practice to have a player play through 4 expansions just to get to current, relevent content (level, new abilities, new jobs, new glamour, new mounts, play with friends, raids, trials)? Have them pay 60 dollars for the game plus current expansion, 15 for a sub, 25 for a skip, and maybe even a level boost? Now you see, I can agree with a more streamlined experience, so long as there's still the meaning behind each duty. Perhaps trimming the fat on some of the quests (e.g. the 2.1-2.55 shenanigans), for a more streamlined experience, but one that doesn't detract from the story (such as why we're going into each duty). That is a happy medium I can accept.
For more veteran players a new streamlined new player experience literally wouldn't effect anyone, except those people who like to go back on an alt and slowly "enjoy" each and every story bit (selfish if you ask me). However, I think the streamlined experience should be included with a boost, and someone who chooses to play from the start should be able to. Clarification [EDIT]

I like how so many people here act as if i don't have the MSQ completed already.
I skip all the cutscenes, because i don't really care.
But oh well. Yeah i am just a salty person looking for free handouts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This game is not only an MMO it’s also a JRPG if you remove or separate the JRPG elements from the game it becomes just another generic MMO
So how do you propose they help new players?
Free skip potions will be like throwing someone into the deep end who doesn't know how to swim, leveling dungeons are far harsher than any end game dungeons and the potion will still force players to level at least 10 levels going into these.
Streamline msq ok they did that with HW and it had atrocious level jumps at launch(I think there was like 4 lv56 msq quest before the Vault a lv57 dungeon) a bit of padding is good it can help flesh out things for people like me and SE can pace things out more appropriately SB is the best paced .0 for story/level pacing and it still has a few bumps (58-60 range is so fast)
I really can't think what the devs could do here they use so much story yes even from the fetch quests into other parts of the game where they expect you to know about it already that it would probably require a whole redesign of the msq for ARR that i doubt they would do anything about it. The devs are currently in the damned if they do damned if they don't scenario here and it seems the dev's vision is with the damned if they do it crowd so they probably won't bother until it truly starts to affect things later down the line.
Guy butt is best butt <3
Cutting out the unecessary quest could help.So how do you propose they help new players?

Leveling wasn't too slow when I tried on my alt. So mainly cutting the quest could help. After that know since I don't know how it'll go yet.
optional story skips to major expansions, and new game + so they can play it at their leisure. This means only players who actively seek to skip will skip, people can go back if they want to, when they want to.I'm not "jaded" at all. I like story based games and it was for that reason I am playing this game. Other games are not as story based and I didn't care for them (started with Ultima online, went to WoW and GW1 and 2 in 2004-5 stayed till 2017, nothing would return me to WoW at this point, but they were story based at one time and I loved them until recently) But I love the story, so do many of my friends that have just started this game. You'll have to compromise somehow between those who love the story and the whole experience start to finish with those who just want to pew pew with their friends at quick end game. Both types are NOT wrong, play styles are NOT wrong, but I and many others love this game as is, so we should not be ridiculed based on our opinion just as you shouldn't with your opinion. So what's your compromise?
skip is an option, they wont use it if they dont want it. They will still have to level their charachters, they can just take advantage of more content while doing it, on their own schedule. Mostly it will only be people who actively want to avoid/choose when to do story, and have friends, or believe they can jump in who will use these types of things. So how do you propose they help new players?

if some people want the mmo more than the jrpg, why force them? No one is saying remove story from the game. They are just saying give those who dont want to do story, or want to do it on their own terms, that option.
The game is not as complex or difficult as people try to make it sound. So how do you propose they help new players?

New players will do just fine. Not everyone is brand new to mmorpgs. Some players having played others like WoW or another type of mmo.
