Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Yeah nah, that's wishful thinking. 6.0 is the soonest we can expect to see them as a playable race, 5.5 as an NPC. Confirmation on them would be saved for Fan Fest (probably Paris and Tokyo Fan Fest again). If asked about them in interviews from now until Fan Fest, expect vague/nothing responses (again. In the past, Yoshi-P would give a vague response if asked about Viera). They most likely haven't started to work on the opposite genders yet as they are most likely still working on what's currently important: the expansion. I am pretty sure they want Shadowbringers to have a smooth release; far smoother than Stormblood's (which to be fair, suffered because of the DDoS attacks. This is something I'm hoping SE are going to be prepared for. Hopefully there won't be one, but some people are horrible creatures).

This is kind of off topic from what we were discussing, but it's something I wanted to add to my post since I've been thinking about it.

I think right now, the devs are actually discussing whether to implement male viera or not. Well, not literally right now, but I think in this general time, this is a period where they are making serious considerations and taking in player feedback. Why do I think this? The longer they wait, the worse the consequences will be. What I mean by this is more gear will be coming out, and so they will have to adjust more gear to fit male viera. Especially the headgear. The longer they wait, the more it will pile up. I believe it was said that the dev team began working on female viera near the beginning of heavensward. I'm thinking the dev team, if they come to the decision of adding male viera, will have to make this decision swifty, and begin working on male viera models at the beginning of shadow bringers.

I can't even begin to imagine how many gear pieces this new expansion will introduce. Whether the answer is yes or no, I genuinely believe this is a decision that will have to be made soon.

We also have to consider that they are still trying to see if they can deliver more general graphics updates (the asset upgrade issue being the costliest element of it), again because leaving it much later than 6.0 will probably be too late in time. Anyway, I agree with that, they would need to commence work sooner rather than later if they do decide to add them.

I'm making a Viera and am excited. My bf in the meantime won't cause there are no males. Which is kinda sad.

Well it is a valid opinion ofc but I don't really think it's necessary to say that anything that u don't think that can happen is wishful thinking, since neither u or I knows what SE wants to do

I mean...of course? The original plan was to have one male Viera alt (Mrjn) for RP reasons, but change Samniel between male and female every couple of months (I dislike being "locked" into one gender, which is why Samniel tends to fluctuate between manqo'te and lady midlander...midlady?)

The original plan was as follows: One alt is definitely getting a one way Fantasia into a boy bunny. Main will probably alternate

If they look anything like the one in Lauront's signature I'd have an extremely hard time deciding between male Viera or male Hrothgar, I gotta say. They both look dope.

If they look like the concert art I would change my main and 1 of my alts ASAP, And I would alternate my alt between male and female every few months. I'd also make 2 hrotgar female alts and a hrotgar male alt

I'll only play one if they can be designed to look like the one in Lauront's signature. If they can't be designed like that, I'll just not bother with them. It'd be a harder sell if the original races received some new customisation options, though.
