Disclaimer: I never said anything along the line of thread title. But I do find some lulz in it. In all honesty I really dont care but I do like to hear insight from everyone else. Please dont let it devolve into a Peen contest or something. Then again, it probably will, but hey, at least I got caramel Popcorn.

In a party with a DRK and PLD then this is just common sense no?

PLD has the best off tank kit, and DRK has a lot of aggro and self mitigation tools.

well currently DRK have a better MT kit that PLD and PLD have a overwelming OT kit, thats not a mistery and thats how it's currently works for pulling and optimal use of PLD and DRK kits.

this dosent mean it's going to be the same for SHB but with the MT/OT balance doctrine that Yoship coments will put DRK and WAR in the MT spot and PLD with GBK in the OT spot probably, WAR and PLD already fit in that doctrine and DRK will need ajustments to compete properly against WAR, but technically they are going to touch DRK a lot already and meaby they put it as a OT but i doubt it, GBK and his kit will just fill the last spot MT or OT depending of DRK direction if they finally go with this.

all being said both tanks can fullfill his duty no matter what position they are.

I'm sorry but as a healer id rather a pally main tank drks,warriors take about 3x more dmg than paladins

The common misconception is that people think Drk/War are better MTs and pld is just an OT when in fact, all 3 tanks are really quite monstrous in the MT role. They all have excessive personal mitigation. Pld actually gains DPS from tanking via shield swipes, has dps gain enmity actions (swipe and scorn) to easily maintain their lead, and shields are awesome passive mit when you are actually being hit. Pld is only OT because its great at MT AND OT while Drk is great at MT and OK at OT. War is great at MT and useless as OT.

Pld isnt the best OT because its a bad MT. Pld is right up there as a MT powerhouse. The only reason its OT is because Drk and War are terrible OTs. Pld can cover, intervention, run to the party and shield them from an AOE with passage (without turning the mob as a MT), has a ranged DPS window to aid in doing far away OT mechanics(Panto 2 comes to mind), and even cure without intteruption in a pinch. Drk can TBN the MT or another party member. War can.....fell cleave? Oh wait they do that as MT. So...war does...nothing as OT. You dont need to be smacked to use SIO.

If all 3 can MT like beasts and pld can MT or OT and bring massive additional tools and value even when not getting hit in the face, its pretty clear who shouldnt be getting hit in the face. But if there were no LB party limitations, Pld/Pld would probably be a competitor for best combo simply because Pld can MT as well as Drk/War and still be useful as OT. Pld/Pld can swap all day and protect each other constantly. War is dead weight if not MT.

The singular exception why pld isnt a good MT is because it's opening pull is junk. But when you have a drk or war, they pull and you just swap after. Except thats bad because then the war/drk is on the sidlines being a blue DPS with a solid MT(pld) instead of a solid MT(war/drk) being supported by the obscene support a pld brings.

You loose value having Pld Mt, but not because pld is a bad MT, but because War/Drk are abysmally bad at being an OT.

While I would normally agree there has been times when as a paladin I've had to MT Usually this only occurs when I'm beating the DRK by a large HP Margin.

All tanks take the same amount of damage on average. I think the only exception may be a Paladins block rate, which, while nothing to ignore, isn't life saving.

Having tanked as PLD and WAR, I definitely find myself having more damage shown as WAR, i.e. less damage mitigation but balanced out by more health, and further balanced out by having more life steal skills.

Honestly I just assume whoever has the most HP is the MT, which usually ends up being WAR if they're the only one, but honestly I don't think it really matters in most content.

pallys have better defense more cds than the other 2 thanks lol so no all tanks don't take the same amount of dmg lol

all 3 have the same defense and even with Defiance increasing HP instead of Defense it works the same as Shield oath and Grit

and all there defensive CD aint much different from each other
