So I had leveled up this Drk because now that I'm free of my FC and essentially revamping myself, I decided to try out tanking. I then had a struggle of staying tank or going back to being a Rdm. After numerous runs of Alphascape V1-4 and having all the parts to fully gear out both my Drk and Rdm, I go back to Rdm only to find being a pure dps to be rather boring now and I now have way more fun being a tank. So suffice to say, my days as a pure dps are over and now I have joined the tanking army. Gonna finish leveling paladin and War and see how they are at 70 while I wait to see what changes happen to tanks for Shadow Bringers.

IMO Tanking is the best role of the game and most interesting especially when things go wrong. I love charging in first that's just what I do.

Tanking can be frustrating if you get DPS that don't know there roll or don't use diversion or lucid. Playing tank also makes me appreciate healers a lot more too.

Something about controlling the pace is very satisfying.

Yeah, I noticed that when I drop Grit to start dpsing after doing 2 Dark Arts Power Slash combos, that some dps quickly get up to half or even end up just about matching my aggro and I've ended up just staying in Grit all the time with pugs since I worry I'll lose aggro and my party will get smashy smashed.

I remember I was pure dps as well until a friend made me some GLD gear and wanted me to tank for them during Halatali. It was a traumatic experience for me for my first time but I gradually eased into it and main WAR/DRK even today.

Really the big thing you want to look out for when dropping Grit/Defiance/Shield is making sure you build a crapton of aggro before hand. War will be the easiest to get that as by around 58 (with Equilibrium) you have so many tools to build aggro beforehand in tank stance. PLD will be a little trickier as it has a slow start up, but you'll have it down flat in no time if you've already started working in that mentality.

Here's hoping Gunbreaker is just as fun for us tanks as these three are!

What? On DRK you get a retarded amount of threat, hell, I even think it's more than WAR at times. DA Dark Passenger in grit is like 1400 potency on top of the modifier for threat, and DA PS nets like 14,000 points of threat in grit. Just one of those bad bois and you're good for the fight.

I'm in the same boat, I'm trying to tank more these days, getting tired of making the bars go up and throw rocks. The hard part is going to be figuring out which to play, got drk at 70 and leveling a war (63)
