I wouldn't consider that reportable to be completely honest. Yeah it's a dick move, but it's not like an actual attack on someone.

I hate to be that guy but you're going into Eureka, which is an extremely active area filled with a bunch of different people shouting things, making jokes, and just goofing off. Wouldn't be shocked to see someone there just be a POS and ruin it for everyone.

All you can really do is blacklist and move on.

Depends, are you one of those people who used to ruin first-timers experience in MSQ by forcing them to skip cutscenes, or who still do by cheating to skip the now unskippable cutscenes and harass anyone who won't do the same?

If you are, then you really have no business getting upset over this sort of thing.

As far as i am concerned, when you do something too someone else you are making an implicit statement that you believe that is a totally okay thing to do and you would be fine with it being done to you.

So to all of you who force first timers to skip cutscenes or want to do so, i hope you have no problems with having any kind of media you enjoy ruined for you, like being forced to skip to the end of any movie you want to watch, or watch only the action scenes and be forced to read the transcript separately if you want the rest of the movie.

Or you are reading a book and get forced to only read the last few pages, you are not allowed to enjoy the rest of it, skip right to the end, and if you want to go back and read the rest you have to read each chapter out of order in the most confusing way possible.

Or have someone shouting spoilers at you and ruining your favorite franchises.

You are totally okay with this being done to you, anything else would be an act of hypocrisy most foul on your part. And that is not acceptable.

If you are not one of those people however then sure, you can get mad over it.

I'm not really one to personally report players for misconduct. Heck, I only have a couple people blacklisted. I will say, however, that shouting movie spoilers in areas with lots of players probably falls under the category of griefing. It's deliberate and malicious behavior that diminishes other players' experiences. Is it the worst thing a person can do? Probably not. But you probably do have grounds to report someone for doing so. Whether you choose to do so or to simply blackmail and move on, I think we can all agree that it's unacceptable behavior.

Ultimately I'd say it comes down to the manner in which the spoiler is posted, but if it's shouted in a busy area, then it's pretty obviously done with malicious intent and therefore griefing.

I'd hope you can see the difference between making a preference known and giving details of something. I am no GM, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it is actionable. It would hardly be the first community I have been a part of where people got their hand slapped for intentionally ruining things for others... even if those things weren't within the game world itself.

Things like what OP is saying is the risk of being online. Someone will probably spoil everything, it's just part of the internet.

The fact that some of you think it's actually acceptable to potentially ban an account over something like this is just insane. There's something seriously wrong with people who think warning/banning an entire account which is pretty expensive if you had one for years for a comment is just mindbogglingly stupid.

Punishing someone for stepping out of line? Seriously? The 1984 book is supposed to be a warning, not a guideline for you lot.

The authorities should be involved in serious matters, not this. This thread is a joke.

My coworker spoiled Endgame for me, let me just go cry to the authorities because he spoiled a movie for me!

It's disconcerting that so many in this thread seem to think that intentionally spoiling a highly anticipated movie shouldn't be an actionable offense, not even a day after its out in theatres. It is blatantly obvious that the offenders are trying to grief and upset other players -- but you're OK with that? This is the reason I turn my chat window off completely. This behaviour is beyond inappropriate, and should be punished, harshly.
