They sure didn't seem to take issue with adding female Viera as waifus, though.

No, they didn't have any issue adding a very requested thing (Viera) in a way that both cut costs (only making one gender with no real clan differences) and ensured revenue (people play classicly beautiful female races more than any others and will Fantasia to them).

It's almost like they're a business.

They basically added Viera waifus. The diffuse visions people had for female Viera did not seem to prevent their addition, including the "fierce warrior" archetype - so why would it prevent male Viera from being added? Not having seen male catboys did not prevent their addition. So your argument doesn't really hold water. Adding Hrothgar, meanwhile, did not cut costs and does not satisfy the many of us who were not asking for them in the first place.

It's almost like we're consumers giving feedback to said business on what we'd like to see.

Nice attempt at a sneak edit. The fact of the matter is that your argument is weak, because the rationale you put forward did not rule out gender-lock reversals in similar scenarios. You can caricature rebuttals to your position however you like, but the point has been addressed, is on weak footing and does not prevent SE from undertaking further research to narrow down what people like, if they feel the need to. I think it's interesting that you don't want them added out of a position of pure spite.

To me, it reads more as though they know the current development model is unfairly stacked in their favour and as such attempt to stifle any moves to balance that disparity out. I've seen it happen in pretty much every thread that pushes for male characters to get some focus for a change.

from a realism perspective Viera men are going to be at least somewhat well-built by virtue of spending so much time jumping and running through their forest.

I have always disliked this "realism" take on Viera men. I mean if you like buffy men and want male Viera to be that way sure, that's personal preferences. But it's silly to use "realism" as defense when we already have tribes of fierce Aura warrior women who look so dainty they would be blown away by the wind.

Just because the development team were willing to turn Xaela and Raen women into generic 'waifu' types I don't see why male Viera have to suffer too. Two wrongs don't make a right, after all.

The body types Yoshi and Matsuno have put out have been Elezen and Highlander, respectively. Either one would be pretty consistent with the females' appearance, and I would not be surprised if it's somewhere in between. I don't hugely care for how female Au Ra were designed, either, particularly when I think their original concept art was better.

Glad you're happy with the current state of affairs....but if that's the case why do you have any investment in this?...other than being on the opposition just for the sake of it seemingly..

You're happy with having Viera/Hroth gender locked, that's great....the current state of affairs has catered to your needs and wants just fine..

However not everyone's needs and wants match yours and players are well within their right to vocalize that they would like to see a particular thing changed/implemented, which in this case is the missing genders....this in no way impacts the fact that your needs and wants have already been catered for and will not be taken away...

So I don't quite understand what argument you have for not having said requested change be implemented.

I don't doubt that the real issue here is that you want Viera men to look similar to your current character and as such any attempt by the development team to embrace realism would be a threat to your desires. I must confess, I'm a little confused as to what exactly you're advocating for given that I even stated in a recent post that it would be for the best if a muscle slider were to be added.
