I completely agree with you on that. These people really shouldn't take up so much negativity on me. I know I'm better than that considering how much I like helping people.

I am hoping a transfer to a new server with much nicer people (plus the server split) will change my viewpoint on this entirely.

My patience has been growing quite thin from people who just refuse help. I should learn to shrug my shoulders and move on but for some reason it just gets to me...

The logic behind the first bolded line and the last line are contradictory as hell, because you naturally parse much higher by actually using your AoE skills properly (not to mention actually killing things before you run out of TP). The difference is literally night and day, and especially if you play Bard, who has to dot multiple enemies while a tank is mass pulling before switching to Mage's Ballad once the tank reaches their end destination.

Using single target skills during mass pulls because the tooltip says they do higher damage to a single target has nothing to do with people wanting higher parses (because doing exactly that results in much lower parses AND results in the tank and healer wanting to shank you in your sleep), it's all about people not applying logic correctly.

I mean sure not all people are parsers and yes most of those who don;t use aoe skills aren't parser themselves but I've met both kind and they both behaved the same except that when I get a parser who doesn't do aoes they either tend to brag about their "damage" or about their "ultimate" title

But I'll admit my joke here didn't work the same way as it did a few pages ago so I'll raise the flag and admit I missed the mark a bit there

And I should've been a bit more specific since my post gave the impression of generalization when that wasn't the intention

And I won't pretend I'm above parsing or anything cuz who wouldn't want to do as much DPS as possible, its just certain uses and certain mentality that some users of it have that rubs me the wrong way

Stone Vigil, two runs on my alt. Jumped right in as a 41 healer but with really solid gear (around 37/38ish).

First run the tank was obviously inexperienced but didn't say a word.
Body-pulled the first pack, but already at 50% within the first seconds before he had aggro of any of the mobs. Decided to be suicidal and healed him, resulting 3 mobs immediately bee-lining for me. Body-slammed him so he hopefully peels them off which he did after a near death experience.
Okay, maybe he had an UI issue or something.
    Next pack the same.
So I asked him politely to refrain from body-pulling packs as it results in either me falling behind in healing if I can't start earlier or me dying because of instant heal aggro and the DRG kindly explained how to do it better. All the while the french 42 Thaumaturge (yes, THAUMATURGE) with 20ish gear and lv 1 accessoiries spammed Thunder the whole time. Literally the whole time.
DRG and me tried to explain to him the basic rotation (srsly, anything is better than spamming Thunder) but he either didn't read party chat or refused to communicate.
Fights ended up taking forever because the tank was super squishy, meaning very little green dps, meaning the DRG had to kill everything single-handedly. Ran out of mp several times, LD and Ether constantly on CD and even resorted to Break spam during lulls to contribute at least a little dps while preserving the little bit of mp I had left.
The DRG was fantastic, didn't tank the floor , didn't eat anything unneccessary and even gave his best to peel mobs off of me and used everything at his disposal to take some pressure of me. No amount of comms could've done this supportive lance-swinger justice.
In restrospect we should've definitely ditched the THM, but I was so focused on healing the paper tank that I didn't think about initiating a kick and the other two didn't either, so we ended up carrying him all the way through.

Second run the tank was fantastic but the dps...uhmm...
The DRG ran around like a headless chicken, constantly added but bee-lined around corners. Which resulted in the tank being unable to pick them up asap which resulted in me dying from heal aggro and the party soon following. So we asked him to not run away should he add and instead just body slam the tank. Still happened several times afterwards.
Meanwhile the BLM was standing beside me, looking at me throwing stones. He spent a lot of time just standing around, sometimes threw some aoes into packs and then stood around again, watching me. But the moment he lost around 20% HP he suddenly woke up and spammed Drain like a mad man.
Both dps ate tons of dmg during the boss fights, DRG jumping from one Typhoon into the next, stacking the dot 3 times and almost dying from it. BLM was your classic turret, happily casting while standing in a Typhoon. At the last boss both ate every single ice sheet, cauterize and touchdown, sometimes the DRG even got hit by the frontal cone thing.
Really felt like a babysitter of seriously suicidal babies during this run. Difference is, babysitters get paid.

There are players who just see the higher number and want that number every time because "Big number".
I'm embarrassed to admit that I thought this way, myself, for a little while. I just thought, the numbers on the single-target skills are so much higher. And it can't be as simple as multiplying the Potency by the number of targets, can it? I can't do more damage by spamming one button, can I? Maybe if there's, like, a dozen targets or something, but...

Well, thanks to you folks here on this thread, a few hundred pages back, I saw that it is indeed that simple. I tried spamming Quick Nock and it does indeed work that way. You guys are doing good work, here!

I just met a co-AST in Syrcus Tower who hadn't done her level 50 job quest yet. Which meant no Nocturnal Sect and no warning until after we had pulled and I was in Diurnal (and she had nothing but put up Diurnal and then said "what's Nocturnal Sect?")

She also overwrote my AoE Balance with an AoE Spear (at least it wasn't a Spire...) and said, "oh, I had no idea cards overwrote each other!" when I politely pointed it out.

    Oof. That hurt.

Times like this make me want to propose making level 50 job quests a requirement before tackling level 50/ARR endgame content.

Nothing to do with the party itself, they did okay, but aether chemical research facility (via roulette while leveling ast) was hell last night. I could barely make it through that place. The visuals literally hurt me. Like I got a very painful cluster headache over my left eye and it turned into a cluster migrane when entering the second bosses room. Started making mistakes because I had to keep my eye shut. I don't know if its a medical issue I might be developing, but the combination of all the neon lights everywhere and the almost-neon floors didn't make my brain happy. has anyone else gotten this? I can't be the only one whos gotten some sort of headache from this place.

I'm going to just stop you right there and say to ask your doctor, and not the forums.

It doesn't matter if anyone else has this issue, what matters is you might need medical attention.

I'd say it does matter. If it bothers everyone or at least very many people then its just a thing that happens there and nothing to panic over.
