It's the curse of having a three year difference in character release dates and character artist workloads.
1.0 had character artists animating 8 player models whereas 2.0 had them focusing on just 3, so there was probably more room to focus on the male miqo'te, female roe, and female highlanders than there was for the original 1.0 characters. On top of that they had more time and practice with the tools when creating the male miqo'te than they did with the females so their familiarity would allow them to push the anatomy of the race farther to be able to express more. It's just kind of how these things go, it's why the Au Ra have such fluid and expressive emotes compared to a lot of the more stiff or simple 1.0 races.
We can only hope that SE steps out of the habit of "NEVER TOUCH PAST ONLY MAKE NEW GOODER" and goes back to show the previous character models a little bit m ore polish. :T
It would be nice to get an update to our character models. Perhaps some new physics for hair, gear (if people remember the awesome bag jiggle or run animations in 1.0 lol), and ears. Or like the Hrothgar some people wanted a more Byakko body shape, I feel if you added two sliders in the right spot you'd have that body shape. Might be possible now, since we haven't had a chance to play with the editor, but I feel like it is unlikely they have those sliders yet. Maybe depending on how they went about making the fat cats, if they were able to create morphs that work with gear and they're testing them out now (which would be awesome) then we can look forward to something like that. Alternatively the fat cats are just their own model with their own armor associated with that, which would be unfortunate for the whole slider discussion lol.

I would like them to revisit some older areas, perhaps like how Ishgard will be done depending on how that goes (sounds cool, but we don't know too much lol). For example I think being able to help the Tonberry reconstruct or to uncover Sil'Dih could be fun. I had thought a whole zombie apocalypse going on in the Sil'Dih city could be a fun way to build a civilization of Vivi mammets (like FFIX's vivi village), lots of opportunity to upset the Ul'dah political sphere and cause chaos as this huge rotting horde becomes a threat, and would also give us a neat water city after we save/reconstruct that is partially underground (a magical "Laputa, castle in the sky"-ish city underground (FFXIV's Undercity (WoW's undead capital)). Also given there are whole areas on the map we haven't explored that we could have new zones for (I suggested airships to get there).

Yeah hopefully there are some options in the editor, or my eyes just need more hands on experience. Could just be not the race for me and that's that lol. But I feel that way. Curious IF they do the males if they'll go similar, as we read Yoshida describe them as basically elvaan with ears, or if they'll give them a bit of difference. Who knows lol.

New character options would be nice though... Like giving us actual real eyebrows .
