I hope we get the option to not have fangs shown when creating a Hrothgar.

Apparently we will be getting a wolfish head, but I guess it will be a wolf/lion rather then a straight up doggo.Lots to get through!
Now that we've got information on the Hrothgar (finally), we can get a clearer picture of their people. Like the Viera they're matriarchal, and have two clans - the Helions and the Lost (no doggo variety, sorry folks). The Helions are named as such because they revolve around their matriarch and have warmer fur colors, while the Lost live as itinerants and have cooler colors. They hail from Ilsabard and are the developers of the Gunbreaker Job, which was originally brought about to protect the Queen Gunnhildr. While Eorzeans were hostile to them at first they now have amiable relations after learning their tongue.
Given their origin, it sounds like the Hrothgar may have been among the peoples who drove the Garleans to northern Ilsabard and the Lost may be among those who continued raids against them up until the development of magitek let them conquer the continent. Despite their savage appearance the Hrothgar have to have some level of technological advancement if they developed the gunblade, and their ancient queen being named Gunnhildr (Gun... heh) lends further credence to them using a Norse naming theme - the Helions, at least.

The Green Word is mentioned in the Viera lore.. I've been thinking of why the Viera might split up so strongly with the males being as they are. I wonder if the Viera is a bit like their FFXII counterpart who are quite sensitive to Mist, and like the FFXII counterpart who have the Green Word as well (a code as of rules and also an ability), maybe the Green Word here also includes a sort of contract with nature. Like how Gridania has to deal with the spirits in the forest, dealing with the weird and sometimes a bit unruly ways of the forest.
If there was some sort of magical, almost mist like influence (FFXII), perhaps it could explain why the females might be able to break away but the males are quite literally duty bound into protecting the forest? Like some ancient contract with the forest that takes a different shape based on gender. The male variant calling them to protect the forest from intruders. Would be a bit dark/funny if the Green Word was found out later to be more of some type of ancient construct directing these desires that was left behind by a civilization rather than the forest itself like "woops we left the oven on when we left home".
Also considered maybe they have some kind of transformation that causes a necessity for them to separate, like the male viera go super sayian at puberty (too aggressive and intense just to stick around) or conversely they go colorful beautiful bird and are too attractive (and the female viera cannot have them around too much, otherwise they'll overpopulate). It could be just "because it is" but I'd rather have an explanation because I feel very much "but y" otherwise lol.

So I watched a video about the site updates, and for the most part it's not bad. But I have to ask, is anyone else a little pissed at the lore reveal for Hrothgar? Me being upset over the gender lock has "softened" but I feel like they catered the Hrothgar lore to be the exact opposite of the Viera, which just feels like overkill, kinda. I'm sure the blurb could of been worded differently so as not to basically, "females are few in number, and rarely seen". I mean they serve a queen for crying out loud.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
I mean in terms of culture, Viera and Hrothgar seem very different. Viera are gender segregated and men live in solitude for their entire adult lives while Hrothgar seem to have communities where women rarely leave their homeland but otherwise are not segregated. So I watched a video about the site updates, and for the most part it's not bad. It's not that the female Hrothgars are rarely seen because they don't leave their settlements. The lore we are given specifically states that the females "number staggeringly low", basically the males outnumber the females. Which is the exact opposite of Viera, the females outnumber the males. The other thing I'm not sure I like, but has no main basis yet, is the fact that they hint that only the males are lionlike. Now, while I hope it's not the case, that makes it seem like the females will look vastly different, making it seem like they will look closer to a femroe than an actual female Ronso. Hopefully, the text just means that the males are lionlike and the females like tiger or panther like; or maybe even bear, like mama bear, lol.

I'm not sure we have been told male viera are low in supply, just that their culture dictates that they live in strict isolation.

The Dramaturge tells us that males are every 2 out of 10 Viera births, or approximately that, but their numbers are kept lower due the extremely rigorous (and oft fatal) training they undergo to become Wood Warders, as well dying during the course of their duties.
Ah cool, nevermind then.
Still I think the same was said about the Miq'ote isn't it in 1.0? For all three one biological sex could be considered rare but the door is left half open in the future just in case. All of them have a fairly different dynamic at play lore wise with how their culture developed around the limited sex.

The Hrothgar lore we do have seems so odd. It doesn't say each clan has a different queen but it also doesn't say that the Helions queen is also the Lost's queen. If it's the same ruler then why is she so icey towards the Lost as it came off that's the reason why their more wild and nomadic. If the Lost have their own then why not over throw her besides the whole ladies are rare part. If it's the same then does this mean their queen can be of either clan? Are there half-breeds of the two clans out there?
I can't wait to learn about this dance troupe and why they've come to Eorzea and how they've created fighting techniques via dancing. Also wonder if one of them will be a homage to XI's troupe master. Even if there isn't one I'll be fine with it. Which side do people think the Hrothgar are on the history of the Garleans. Are they one of the races that bullied them and thus pushed them into Northern Islaberd or the ones that helped them not die until they found curelium?
