Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

That sort of thing can often be a trap. Why condemn bad behavior when you can show correct behavior? There's the risk of people not getting the criticism, also, isn't Fight Club a criticism but people hail it as an anthem instead?
Also, while every race and community will have rotten apples, they were always shown to be, not the exception, but certainly like you said, not how you were supposed to behave, and not something "normal society" condones.
But we're talking about race here, whose males at least will be playable. And this game establishes that everything has rotten apples, and bad history, and bad blood. Even if they say that Hrothgar "aren't like that", will it really be believable?

Well, there surely will be rotten apples in Hrothgars population as well. Not having them at all will be just boring storywise. My point is that, if females are considered as baby makers (which doesn't really sound like this according to those drops of info that we have for now), it can be shown in negative way in story, where females try to protect themselves from this kind of life, hiding their female kids from male population. I'm not sure that Team even thought about this part when they wrote lore though. Or maybe they did, who knows.

They probably didn't. "They're just that rare" has been their go-to justification for several gender locked races so far, they probably didn't see why it wouldn't work this time too.

And even if they thought about it, showing the negative implications and condemning it, they still condemned an entire race-gender - one which people want to play, mind - to such a horrible scenario.

Well to be fair they had to come up with something. It would have been worse if they didn't try to address the absence of females with lore.

But yea I also noted how similar they sound to male miqos, and yet we have those as a playable option.

People need to consider that the lore stuff released wasnt done yesterday. It's copy text that's been worked over and is probably in line with 5.0 MSQ. This was probably already changed and adapted at the time they decided to make female Viera as the go to. I wouldnt hold this up as "the devs answer" to whether or not we get both genders at this time. Best way we will know is later after launch, the question will get asked directly, and the devs will likely respond with a conclusive answer at that time.

I don't think too many people think this is their response to removing the genderlocks. If anything, as others have said in various threads, confirming they exist at all within the context of the game (especially fem Hroth) is a step in the right direction. And the lore ringing so close to the 1.0 lore justifications for genderlocks that were removed is all the better.
I think people, myself included, simply find it lacking if not problematic, even for what it is.

IMO, I view this game's lore, for the most case, to be 'fluid' in that whenever the devs wish it, they can change/retcon it to suit their purposes, even if the players don't adhere to it lol. After everything that has been said and done and this lore coming out... still rings a little hollow for me, especially since we've seen a few contradictions (like the catbois still being playable) in and out of game.

That aside, I'm not saying "Give us both genders at launch, NOW!" no no, I'm more than willing to wait sooner or later (hopefully sooner heh) for them to release the missing genders through patches. But I SO do look forward to hearing their official response and hope that it is a favorable one.

As I said in another thread, I think the broad majority of people assume that of course we wont get both gender's at launch, and that the demand for it right this instance is a vocal minority that, frankly, should be told to get a grip.
