Again, M'naago and J'olhmyn look like what I would consider "black" so not sure where this no black npcs is coming from. I mean they're obviously not black because that construct doesn't exist in the world of ffxiv, but definitely darker skinned npcs.Hold up. I don't care for the fantasy excuse when they pull from real-life traits. When I see that in the game, I make connections because of real life. And there are strong feelings. I really didn't want to go there, but are you black? You can't tell me how to feel about their conscious or unconscious choices when they keep putting them in my face. You think they should continue to not put any important black females in the game? I really hope they start somewhere. Or you don't agree?

I can even tell you where the fields were my great grandma worked in. I just don't agree with the notion of absolutely needing to force real life to fantasy. Steppe is based on Mongolia but you don't see people trying to fact check all things Mongolia or getting offended they don't act or speak a certain way. It's tiresome, let fantasy be its own final fantasy. Saying a character with dark brown skin is black is literally wrong because they are in no way African or descendants of an African people. They are Ala gosh darn Mhigans.
She looks a like a typical beauty from northern Europe. She could easily pass for swedish. Just because she isn't from Europe doesn't mean that she doesn't look like she is, and it doesn't mean that others from northern Europe wouldn't think she looks similar to them.
She is also a hyur, which is essentially human. She has literally zero physical traits that set her apart from a human.
People thought Raubahn was black? He really doesn't look that way to me, fun to see how people see that differently. Dude looks massively Persian-like (that area) to me, at least based on the Persians that live around with me/I've worked with (these guys had brown hair rather than darker black hair).Hold up. To be honest though we don't really have real life races in this game. If simply all it takes to be a certain type of white (like Caucasian) or black (like African) is just a color shift then race isn't really fixed - loads of Caucasians in Asia then right now lol (pale skin / skin whitening products are pretty big). Being dark or light doesn't make you Caucasian or African in real life, there are more factors than that, and isn't the case in game either seeing as they don't have any of our geographical locations from where our races could be birthed from (where is my America dangit (lol)!? Make... Garlemald.. Great?).
Personally I dislike checklists (though it's nice to self reflect if something was intentional or not- self reflecting helps one grow), but just as an aside I see no reason why we can't have important black characters. If they ever add chocobo raising I want FFXIII's Sazh as the leader of chocobo raising / diplomat (I'd like chocobo paradise to be important so maybe key figure in chocobo relations). Mostly because he's like one of the two characters I actually liked in all of FFXIII.. with a strong relationship with the cutest chocobo baby and I really want new chocobo content so it's "established character I like + content I want" = I win. Then add like two daughters where one can be a leader in racing/training and open up some new chocobo content and the other out as explorer with chocobo interests (finding new choco peppers and animal rescue type thing).

"Yda" and Minfilia were both in 1.X, which didn't have female Highlander models. There isn't much to it.Like, I'm not offended by it, I just thought it was really strange for them to make her dad so dark when Lyse is so fair skinned. Why would they do that? Even in the XIV world kids tend to look like their parents. It makes 0 sense for her dad to be so dark and Lyse to be so light skinned.
Would like to see more dark-skinned NPCs, especially females.
i get your point, but its actually possible for two hybrids to have physical features that are outside the middle of two parents, Also, genetics in a fantasy world may have different norms.I don't care what excuses you guys come up for them. When they write in suggesting Lyse is somehow supposed to be Curtis's biological daughter, or when they write the description for Veena as being "umber" toned and make her look just like the Rava, I'm gonna be a bit upset.
Also, i dont think charachters in the game consider appearances much in plotline, hildibrand's mother looks like shes 23.
That explains their models sure, and I can get them not wanting to swap to female highlander models to avoid confusing people that played 1.0. But I don't think that really explains the odd difference in skin color between Lyse and her father.
Now it doesn't really bother me that they're so different. Especially when we don't know what her mom looked like. But you can make dark skinned midlanders and fair skinned highlanders so I don't think this is about the models not being in 1.0 for female highlanders.
