Good for you at least not admitting openly to being a racist. However if they are going to do that they need to create one or two servers for you people. Not change existing servers.

Because not only do you prefer to play with people speaking your language, you can't even be on a server with them.
You must be on a server with your own kind, and if not your kind then they at least have to pass for one right? Maybe a Japanese person could play on an English server if you couldn't tell they were Japanese from their English.
No, there is not a tinge of racism in that at all I'm sure. You are wonderful people.
Well I know that if you are on Karnak I imagine you will be moving. Right now at NA Prime time we have around 125-150 on and half of them are afk players. I made a poll on our LS webpage so we can have a vote once the servers are listed. Also for the friends you are worried about that aren't playing, why don't you just make a post on the Lodestone LS page stating where the LS moved to? Very Excited
No, it comes down to what Tibian said in a post in the server label thread about fostering community. It's a bit long with a lot of quotes, so I won't re-quote it, but you can find it here:Because not only do you prefer to play with people speaking your language, you can't even be on a server with them.

My experience in FFXI always comes to mind. I played on a server with a very large JP community, which, in time, overshadowed the English speaking community. Eventually, many western players went on to games like WoW, and it became harder and harder to replace the lost numbers in my linkshell. The game grew to be very lonely on my server, despite the fact it was active. I felt like a foreigner in a foreign land. I could never send a tell to someone without using the auto-translator, because 8/10 times, it would be returned with, {I'm sorry.} {I don't speak any English.} And when I would get blind tells in Japanese characters, I would return it with, {I'm sorry.} {I don't speak any Japanese.} Very very rarely, I would have someone elaborate with {Party}? But more often than not, the conversation would end right there, with no elaboration.
After four years, and I finally got lured away to WoW, my second MMO. I was on a US server. And I could finally just... type! And talk. Without sifting through the auto-translator that had been sucking out my soul for four years. I could finally just have a normal conversation without it frustrating or disheartening me.
I don't have a problem with foreign players. I just don't want to find myself, once again, isolated in a situation where I can't just have a simple conversation with someone. It's not that I don't want people of other languages on my server. I just want to be where a majority of English speaking people are. And if server labels help that, then I'm all for it.
No one is saying we shouldn't have the option of having global servers, or playing on whatever server we like. You live in NA but you want to be on a JP server? More power to you! But I want to be able to assume that people can and will be able to understand me without jumping through hoops when I talk to them.

I don't want to be on a JP server, I want to be continue playing on Selbina which is a global server like all XI servers and XIV servers are. I don't want Selbina to be labeled Japanese or NA so people have a reason to desert it and create a situation like you described being an insignificant neglected minority. I also don't want an NA server, because I do not wish to play with only NA people. So I want Selbina to stay just the way it is.No, it comes down to what Tibian said in a post in the server label thread about fostering community. You are the one that wants an exclusive server just for your kind. You are asking for something new and different from the standard, different from the way quite frankly the internet works (which is globalized). You are the ones then that should have to move to a new server for that. Most of us do just fine on global servers, and we shouldn't be forced into regional servers just because you had a bad experience with XI.
You don't even appear to play XIV, in fact neither of you two complaining about global servers and claiming to speak for "the majority" appear to.

I have a revolutionary idea. Players who want a global server can play on them. Players who want language specific servers can play on them. Nah, let's call people racists instead.I don't want to be on a JP server, I want to be continue playing on Selbina which is a global server like all XI servers and XIV servers were. I don't want Selbina to be labeled Japanese or NA so people have a reason to desert it and create a situation like you described being an insignificant neglected minority. I'll call a dog a dog. I'm fine with those people getting their own servers so I don't have to play with them, but I don't want my server made regional. It is 2011 the world shouldn't bend for people who can't manage to co-exist with others from different locations.
Racist implies an irrational hatred based on race alone. This is not an example of that, but you're welcome to believe whatever you want. I can easily co-exist with other races; I work with them frequently. They even speak different languages! Know why I can co-exist with them? Because it's real life and it's different than a video game.
If Selbina gets changed to a language specific server then you have two options:
1. Quit
2. Move to a global server
It's 2011, the world shouldn't have to cater to people who are inflexible.
Like it or not, servers are getting restructured. It sucks that it's happening after the fact, but there's no turning back time. Mergers are definitely coming, and regional servers are a possibility. From what I understand, it's being considered because many JP players want it (not that it matters who's asking for it, but to get angry at those on the NA forums who agree it's a good idea is futile). And Yoshi-P said here that they would like to designate at least one RP server.I don't want to be on a JP server, I want to be continue playing on Selbina which is a global server like all XI servers and XIV servers are. I don't want Selbina to be labeled Japanese or NA so people have a reason to desert it and create a situation like you described being an insignificant neglected minority. "Your kind"? Listen to yourself. If anyone sounds racist here...
Actually, regional servers are the MMO standard. Final Fantasy is the only game I've played that doesn't do this.
