That's where the problem is. The number of players back in 1.0 was not as massive or even close to what we have today. You have a lot of players coming from different MMOs are different times and the majority are after 2.0 (and some had no idea that Miqo'te and Roes were only one gender). So naturally, the majority will not be familiar with the 1.0 usage of the term and would be using it the way they knew it in other MMOs. So in this case, the majority can actually change the meaning of a term used back in 1.0 to something else, since now the new meaning became the commonly known meaning.

That is true too, but I don't really see the point in making an issue about it regardless. Even if the term has changed in meaning somewhat, context should make it very clear what people mean by "genderlocked" and as long as the word is conveying the right meaning that is what matters. You're not going to get an entire group of people to change the word they're using just because you don't think it is a perfect fit for the situation anymore.

If people don't understand what someone means when they say "genderlock" in regards to the current issues of female only Viera and male only Hrothgar, than either the person presenting the idea or argument has horribly botched proper context, or the person reading it has no concept or a full lack of understanding of context.

I will agree "genderlocking" isn't the best term in a literal sense, but there's almost always more than enough context to understand the idea or thought someone is presenting when they use it.

And for another thing, if someone is going to boil an argument down to shallow levels of semantics, the least they could do is put forward a more apt term instead of sitting around and bickering about the misuse of a term that most people commonly understand the meaning of given the context of the discussion.

Genderlock has been a term in use for MMOs for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. Well before FFXIV. Anyone who has played MMOs (or games in general) know what is being meant by gender lock. This is why this point is not constructive. It is literally shifting the conversation away from what people are having an issue with, to discussing the terminology and word usage that is being commonly used to describe said issue.

Look, you want to have a discussion about the term "Genderlock" and the specific nature of its wording vs the public understanding of it, where we can debate if it accurately describes the situation where a race is locked into one sex, start a thread wtih that in mind. What not to do is start a thread saying Genderlock isnt the right word and we should be happy we got what we did. The former is a discussion about the word usage, the latter is a derailment tactic that seeks to discredit the complaints and frustrations of players because they didnt use the "right terminology" as defined by those who aren't using it as it is commonly understood.

Nothing close to the concept art. Then we'll see if the real reason people are fighting for this is for gender opportunities/RP or just cosmetics.
