He said in an interview they're reviewing feedback. Other than that, I'm not sure what people hope to get from him after such a short time. And yes, it is a short amount of time. It's been, what, 2, 3 weeks? Keep in mind that during that time, other than reviewing feedback not necessarily in their native tongue and dealing with things lost in translation, the devs were also busy with:
1. Finishing male Hroth and female Viera as we know they barely managed in time for their reveal trailers, we don't know how complete the models are otherwise - we do know they won't have many head pieces at launch, which is another thing they might be working on.
2. Last minute tests and fixes and what not (if not outright development) for Shadowbringers
3. Hopefully server planning and maintenance to avoid Raubahn Ex 2 - Ala Mhigan Boogaloo.
4. Not unthinkable, having to deal with internal responses to the playerbase anger.
And then, the response that they should give, is not just whether or not we're getting the missing options. If not - they better give a better detailed explanation to why not. "We won't be able to support this moving forward" - but given the outcry they can't say this all wishy washy so long as there's a chance they're wrong about it. It takes time to calculate that.
And if there IS a chance they'll be able to add it, they still need to make those calculations, but they might also petition SE for backup. More money, money people, maybe outsource something, reach out to players who already made designs and see maybe to use their designs to save on their own... there's a billion and one things they can do but they all take time.
I'd personally hate a half hearted response just for the sake of a response, and it might actually be one of the worst things they could do in this current climate.

If he ever decides to avert his big mistake on gender locking this will be in the next expansion 6.0.
I hope he could do it earlier than that and introduce them in a 5.X patch instead.
It was a mistake and his old interviews proved that it wasn't for technical or development limitations but because of his own view on how things should look like.
He could skip the Hrothgar that nobody asked for and he could go for the male Viera instead. We already have cat people in game.
Male Viera never existed in any previous FF game and he was scared for XIV to be the first to do so.
This lack of inspiration and risk taking is what hold XIV back sometimes.
They rely far ttoo much on older FF games and they rarely do things on their own.

Male Viera ! Male Viera !

You all that share fan art are very talented.
Yes, a male AND female beast race, and still, not near as many ppl as those who wanted viera. SE did mess up this time, they should have just given a full race at 5.0, whichever be it (most likely viera, male and female, sicne there was a HUGE demand for that), and the other one at 6.0, but actual races, not the half baked unfinished product we currently have
