Perhaps the thread wouldn't get nearly so much negative attention if some of the artwork being posted wasn't so creepy/overly suggestive.

But it's really not though. (Artwork being creepy and a reason for the trolling.) And the negative attention it IS getting isn't even mentioning artwork.
It's a contributing factor. I've seen this thread mentioned on a number of sites with the explicit reaction of eye rolling and wariness due to some of the artwork being posted.
Can you link some of those? Or is this just confirmation bias at work? I get most of the artwork posted may not be to your tastes, but really now... Even if some outside people are complaining about the art, they're not coming and posting here, which makes them irrelevant.
I'm not linking to sites that would potentially get me banned due to the name alone. For those in the know, though, there's a sub-reddit devoted to FFXIV and then there's a sub-reddit that frequently uses the phrase 'GCBTW' that is something of a spin off. That may be enough for people to hunt it down, it might not be. Either way, some of the stuff being said isn't appropriate to link here. Can you link some of those? They're described as fierce defenders of the forest. Isolationist, too. I'm willing to bet they're not going to be bending over in such poses in the same way as some of the Miqo'te 'dancers' in Ul'dah.
To the reply to me: So that particular meme is still alive then? I think people need new material. Again though, those people aren't relevant and are nothing more than trolls making fun of others for asking for something.I'm not linking to sites that would potentially get me banned due to the name alone. To the reply to MrKimper: Maybe some of them have that kind of personality. Being "fierce" isn't mutually exclusive from being sultry. You could very well have one of them adopt such a personality.
And they've also been described by yoshida as being slim, handsome, elegant, and elezen like. Matsuno when asked said he thought they'd just be highlander with rabbit ears. At the end of the day the only thing we have to go on is concept art, nobody's hijacking anything because we have no way of knowing concretely what they'll look like if they're added at all.
This is like putting the cart ten miles before the horse, there're WAY more you should be worried about than whether there's some secret cabal of twink lovers trying to ruin your image of viera.
For the record I'd rather tall lean muscular viera with long flowing hair if they were added. I'm not gonna lose my mind and cry fowl if people want shorter viera because all I care about is if they get added.

Non of the posts are talking about the art though. Seems like a personal hangup.

Not particularly. I'm all for attractive men being posted. I just don't think they need to be posed in an explicit, crude and overly suggestive manner. The same can be said of the women.
It seems to me as though there's a very vocal portion of posters seeking to hijack the race to be something it isn't.
Not saying it's your personal hang up, saying anybody using that as an excuse might just have a personal hang up they should sort out. I haven't seen too much art that has broken the ToS, if you mean art like this. Not particularly. I'm all for attractive men being posted. I think it's rather tame, there's nothing that's overly sexually explicit in it.
How can you hijack something that hasn't even been confirmed to exist yet?
