    I don't think that matters. You can read the transfer faq and see what all of the restrictions are.

    I can confirm you don't have to empty it. Mine is almost full and luckily I did not have to empty it before transferring, so don't worry

    You can, however, display items on a mannequin, then remove the mannequin. The items will remain in the "to be sold" inventory of your retainer and will not prevent you from transferring.
