Nope, you would have to start a new FFXIV account. You can't have a Windows non-Steam and a Steam licence on the same account.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
You can't add a PC key if you already have a Steam one. We would have to start an entirely new account if this were not changed.
Exactly, which is why we're asking "Ok, will you let us add a Windows key to our Steam account then to give us access to FFXIV without requiring Steam?" (but still allowing Steam options, potentially allowing SE to double dip us for expansions, I would be up for buying the expansions on both for example, since while I like using Steam, I'd also have the non-Steam for backup). Since those of us with Steam keys, our account type is defined as a "Steam" account type, with those not on Steam for defined as a different account type. Which is why we can't add the licence, it's down to our account type.

Yeah I wouldn't be thrilled if I had to buy everything again (especially since I already pre-ordered ShB before this announcement), but I guess I *would* do it if I had to/could. If nothing changes though, and FFXIV has the same issues ESO did then I will be forced to unsub. I do love the game, but having nearly 5 years of time and effort tossed in the bin for no good reason (IMHO), would be too much.Exactly, which is why we're asking "Ok, will you let us add a Windows key to our Steam account then to give us access to FFXIV without requiring Steam?" Nope. Wrong. Steam and PC cannot exist on the same account. Which is one of the reason why this thread is here. Steam users just want to be able to buy the PC version on the same account.
So yes, as it stands now, today, I need a new account
Alright, wow. Yeah, that's...definitely news to me. And it's horrible news at that.
Is it possible to create a second FFXIV service account with the same Square Enix account, use a regular PC version on the second service account, and then transfer character from the first service account to the second?
Nope, sorry.
Characters can't be transferred to different service accounts, even if they're under the same SE account.
I dont "demand" but it would be nice to get away from the steam client in some way without losing my main account. Half the time it takes steam over 10 minutes to even boot up. I would even buy everything all over again if it meant i could get my account out of steam and onto regular windows.
That's too bad. I think this would solve the issue if they don't want Steam and non-Steam version on the same account. That said, it's probably going to mess with account-bound items.
