This is my complaint for allot of content in the past. All dungeons are 3 bosses with trash in the middle. Raids, trials and dungeons all feel the same now. I mean a trial is basically a raid with one boss.
I mean they are looking for creativity by adding math to raids?
Too cookie cutter. This is the reason I come and go from the game and play both FFXI and FFXIV.
I do like Eureka though and it feels different and creative but yet familiar. It is the reason I came back to FFXIV based on what a friend told me about it.
So I actually feel the game is a little less cookie cutter than it has been but the majority of the content still is..

I can't believe players still like playing 10 to 20 year-old games!...
I think it's time to let XIV die, the game is boring now and I'm totally fed-up with the same routine expansion after expansion, I welcome any new Final Fantasy game they have in the making and if that game is a new MMO that is to replace XIV then I'd be happy!...
Playing with low-polygon doodles in 2019 is not my idea of having fun, I should unsubscribe actually, I'm just wasting time in this old game!...
Maybe you remain here because other MMORPGs (except BlackDesert in my opinion), even the ones that are announced to be released or currently in Bêta all already look oldfashioned and somewhat a copy/past from ArcheAge/Aion?
In my opinion, BlackDesert and FFXIV are both graphically the most efficients (aesthetics/hardware need) and the bests for characters animations.
But don't get me wrong, I have this kind of feeling too, that we somewhat need something new. If a game publisher could release something that mix BlackDesert graphics (with an update) and the good parts of FFXIV in a more Steampunk or Cyberpunk world, I would be glad.

Very true, especially with the high demands on a corporate level. However, someone like Yoshida will still have influence over corporate decisions. Especially now as he has a lot more power than he did several years ago. FFXIV is in a place where Yoshi could relinquish some of his power to a co director/producer so he would have time for other projects, but whether it is attachment, trust, competency or something else; he currently seems unwilling to let that go. As the person most directly responsible for XIVs success, it would be unwise to divert too much of his attention away from it while on the summit.
Like you said though, it's all speculation. I could be entirely wrong and corporate may very well be exhausting Yoshi and taking his good health for granted. This happens all the time in business.
The reason they could do ARR in 2 years from 1.0 is because most of the leg work was already done. Best of my understanding, ARR is a retooled version of 1.0, where as if you were to 'recreate' ffxi, youd need to rebuild almost all the game assets from scratch due to them being so dated. You likely wouldnt use FFXIVs engine either cause that engine is already beginning to have dating issues too. So youd probably move to a newer engine to prolong the lifespan of a reboot.
My guess is, that for SqE and the Investors see Yoshida as the "Guy wo makes a MMO make a lot Money." and so they might put him in charge of the next MMO hoping that the next MMO will not repeat the FF14 1.0 Story and will straight jump to the later success of the Game.
This Industry is mostly pretty straight forward with such things and SqE is no exception of this.
But I am not sure, if they want to change the formula. They only do this, when something makes less Money, compared to the last time.
It really depends what Game you play.
There are tons of old Games, that are still great today, like Metal Gear Solid 1-3, Majoras Mask, old Fire Emblem Games, Okami or Silent Hill 2 and many more.
It really depend if the Game was great and if the Graphics ages well.
Some Games age well, others not.
And those Ideas can be transfered to modern Games, if the Designer really knows what made them fun back then and takes time to rethink if this might still be fun today.
This is something that is a bit of a "Hit or Miss" Topic for Yoshida.
Sometimes he hits the Goal and sometimes he just remade something that was even back then just pretty bleh as a Feature.
Would I want the old Level Up System of Elder Scrolls like in Morrowing Games back for modern ESO Games?
Not really or not all of it. It often ended with the Player having several Level Ups stacked and because they want to min max something, they stopped to using the Rest/Sleep Option and instead used "wait" everytime.
Was it fun to need to rest to Level Up and spend your Upgrade Points? Yes.
Was ist fun to juggle the Skills, to always have 3 +3 Level Ups per Level Up, by going out to make certain Level Ups...not that much, it felt so "Gamey".
You reached two Points of Acrobatics and to prevent a double Upgrade of Athletics and Acribatics, you stopped to jump till your next Rest.

Unless SE decides to go full Blizzard the game has a lot of life left in it, it really does. 1.0 and 2.0 were essentially 2 different MMOs (not to mention 1.0 is no longer with us) so I don't know why people keep saying it's older than it is. The only thing that may be about a decade old is the name, Final Fantasy XIV. The game we have and are playing now isn't quite that old yet. It also makes them a crap ton of money so why would they kill it? lol Wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint. Now if it were to suddenly cause them financial losses instead of gains then yeah, I could see it being shut down. But the CEO (I think? If not it was definitely one of the higher ups) said recently that he wouldn't let it die even if Yoshi P wanted it to. It's just too profitable.
The game was mostly rebuilt from the ground up. It kinda had to be to meet the PS3's system requirements. I'd be willing to bet though that work had begun months before 1.0 was taken offline. They gave it their all because they were in a tough spot and it thankfully payed off for them. The game quite literally saved the company.
It's kind of funny to always see the same people in these threads, year after year complaining the game is stale and they are bored and tired of it. They must be doing something right, cuz you are still here.
I'd point out they have done new things, but it's always "but it's not really new, it's just the same thing with a different skin" so I won't really try to convince you. You already have your minds made up.
I'm looking forward to the expansion, and the new things Yoshi-P adds with it.
As for Yoshi-P working on a new game, it's possible currently he is just overseeing the high-level pre-production and production of the next game being developed by the division he leads. It's pretty much expected for him to have multiple projects now, as he is a division lead and is also on the board of directors. While he helped move XIV into not only a success, but an almost unheard of one after its initial failure, his success also helped shoot his career up inside SE. He was a rather unknown dev before taking over.

I don't expect FFXIV to go anywhere anytime soon. We've likely go at least two more expansion, potentially more - which would be at least another 4 years worth of content. Even when the game ceases to be updated, FFXI is proof enough that the plug won't be pulled on FFXIV for quite some time.
Now, personally, I'd quite like to see a new Final Fantasy MMO at some point. I'm in no rush, though - and I hope that if one is made it's more 'high fantasy' and learns from the mistakes FFXIV made in regards to player housing and character customisation.
