It would be nice if everyone could get a house. That being said apartments are the so 100% of people can access housing.

Apartments are limited so it's not true 100% may be able to (especially FC), depending on the server you're on at least. Also they're a lesser content compared to having an actual house, missing some features and quantity (especially a large). Maybe some day they'll be upgrade-able into a large quality house though, that'd be cool.

Given how many people can be on a World and how many would care to drop 500k on an apartment, I think it's actually impossible to fill up every single apartment unit between every housing ward+subdivision.

I doubt we'll ever be able to convert apartments into houses but I think it's quite possible we'll have a chance to upgrade them to larger apartments eventually. One of the things they had mentioned last year was that they were they were exploring adding in options for apartments sizes.

It's a shame they didn't have more info about housing changes for us during any of the FanFests outside of the hint at Ishgard housing. My hope is they have a major housing system change planned for 5.1 much the way 4.1 added Shirogane but they're going to wait until just after Shadowbringers is released to discuss it.

Haven't checked in a while but last time I did, and perhaps that was before the ward extension, but balmung was full on all accounts with random openings sometimes. But my main point is even if they are open it's not true 100 percent house content since it doesn't have all the features.

I agree with you, unlikely they would do that and I agree it would be great to see the apartment system be upgraded.

You have a chocobo stable outside the apartment, there is a moogle mailbox in the lobby, you can have 2 flower pots for gardening and the 1 aspect you'd be missing is cross breeding to which I think can be solved with a multi plant housing item. To this end, the absolute only feature you are missing are airships and workshop crafting, and for this, you need a Light party of other crafters. You can't do it alone even if you want to. So to that end, join a FC with a house.

Some people don't want to join FCs, I get it. But- you have to party with people anyway, so 30 seconds of interaction is not an impossible concept if you really, really, really want those items... which can be sold on the MB. So in fact, you don't even really need the workshop because you can just buy it.

Just made it sound horrible, imo. But clearly we are never going to agree. So many heavy limitations and "it's just like housing" does not flow to me, they are not just like houses imo and I guess we'll not agree because it's too many compromises for me to think that. If they are it's like calling shoe box just like a mansion. With the limited garden and missing features, no FC power, one room and massive item limitations, no outdoor furnishing, and no actual house exterior.



If they added an actual outdoor area, full garden support, full size support, FC support, and some exterior control then I think I could see the argument being legitimate.

But that's the point of housing exclusivity. You want it, and just noticed you're on Balmung, you move to a low pop server with Smalls in abundance. If you're not willing to move, then you really don't want it that bad. You want a hand out.

Abandon your server and friends or you want a hand out? Wow... even with the new server system there are still large issues changing server homes. Also I think house exclusivity is a horrible concept that I hope gets purged, so I dont agree with your premise that leads to wanting a handout.
